Google's new AI overview feature is a disaster.

AI is awesome. Tacking on AI to a product that hundreds of millions use without it working is not.

13 hilarious examples:
1) Google AI Overview is suggesting you add non-toxic glue to pizza sauce because of a shitpost from esteemed Reddit user Fucksmith from 11 years ago.
2) @mark_riedl was able to trick AI Overview into thinking he won a DARPA award by seeding false information on the web to test it.
3) President Andrew Jackson graduated in 2005. Wild, considering he was born in 1767.

Maybe he and @bryan_johnson should swap notes.

4) Running with scissors is great fun.
7) Hey @ElonMusk did you know you went to Berkeley?

8) Creative solution to transport oranges.

9) Google AI tries to rhyme and comes up with work berk birk burk.

10) Food names that end with me.

"Peanum Buttum, Jorkum, and Cream of ketcunt."

11) Image
BONUS ) This is possibly not real. I'm not sure. Funny that I wouldn't be surprised if it's real.
I get that Google is scared some startup will eat its lunch with AI, and they're probably right, but this product isn't ready for primetime.

It makes AI look bad for them to put this half-baked feature into a product hundreds of millions of people use.
They should create a new AI product separate from Google Search. And if they see a startup starting to gain steam that could kill Google Search, they should spend as much as necessary to buy it.

They probably should buy Perplexity from @AravSrinivas for $25B now.
By the way, there is a way to shut it off if you'd like.

Today, California's Senate passed an incredibly dumb bill that could kill AI open-source and hurt America.

We need to push back against this. Now.

Here's everything you need to know about it:
First, here's the Senator in San Francisco who got it passed. @Scott_Wiener.

Wild to see him gleefully cheering the destruction of startups and innovation in his very own backyard.

Summary of the bill from @deedydas, an investor at Menlo Ventures.
