Father Chad Ripperger and his assistant, Kyle Clement. A thread.
I’ve expressed my distrust of Father Chad Ripperger before and of all so-called celebrity exorcists. Exorcists are by their job description supposed to be quiet and unknown. (1/13)
Anyone who boasts of this role sets off my spidey senses. I grew up attending way too many “spiritual warfare” lectures listening to people like Mike Warnke (fraud) and Ken Roberts (laicized child abuser) detail all of their depravity to somehow prove evil exists. (2/13)
When Ripperger makes videos boasting that he’s gotten countless individuals to stop taking their bipolar meds because they were possessed, that’s dangerous. Saying women are in mortal sin for working outside the home without grave reason, laughable, but also dangerous. (3/13)
I want to address the latest addition to the Ripperger team: Kyle Clement. I first encountered Clement’s name in the police report on the Father David Morrier case in Steubenville, Ohio, when he served at @FranciscanU. You can read that here: (4/13)dropbox.com/s/cae2yj8rsnbw…
On Kyle Clement’s advice, members of the Steubenville community hid the victim at various locations around town because he said “she was going to be abducted and ritually sacrificed.” (5/13)
Kyle Clement advised Morrier over the phone during so-called deliverance sessions where the victim was subjected to being restrained by grown men, drenched in holy water, and held captive for hours in order to expel supposed demons from her. (6/13 )
He told Morrier that the victim was not properly baptized as a child, that the priest who performed the baptism was a secret Satanist, so her infant baptism was invalid. (Note: there is zero evidence to support this) He instructed Morrier to re-baptize her. (7/13 )
This is a violation of the Sacrament of Baptism and the rebaptism was never filed with the local diocese.
The police report also mentions “a judgment upheld against Mr. Clement for various things including fraud and statutory theft in the amount of $747, 505. (8/13)
There was also a financial matter in Texas involving several hundred thousand dollars. Clement’s appeal was denied: (9/13)law.justia.com/cases/texas/el…
So now Kyle Clement is Ripperger’s exorcism assistant. Their “ministry” charges thousands of dollars to train more priests and laypeople how to conduct exorcisms in hotel ballrooms. He also offers training sessions for other Catholic church groups including @E90Official. (10/13)
He also makes videos claiming that Cardinals, Bishops, and other priests are involved in what he calls Satanic RItual Abuse. link here: (11/ )
I understand the fascination with all of this. Our world is scary and sometimes it seems the only answer is that evil forces are afoot. But Kyle Clement and Father Chad Ripperger seem to be taking advantage of people for financial gain. (12/13)
Including a young woman in this video who was abused by a priest but is convinced that she was being groomed to become a Satanic High Priestess.
Call out this dangerous nonsense. It is distracting and often damaging. Save your money and your peace. And your parish. (13/13)

A brief thread on my complaints about chastity educators. This isn’t solely focused on Jason Evert, but admittedly, his is the most popular game in this particular town. First of all, and again, not the only man doing so, (1/22)
I find it sends mixed signals to have a man of nearly 50 address teen girls regarding these delicate issues. We know a real problem exists within the church and recognizing boundary violations. We must consistently model safe boundaries for our children. (2/22)
Who are safe adults, what is appropriate for an adult male to discuss with you, etc. Evert’s ministry says that he is not alone with anyone, which is good. But addressing them about these topics is still very intimate. (3/22)
A THREAD for @archbalt and Archbishop Lori in response to the email I received last night encouraging me to oppose Maryland House Bill 001 and Maryland Senate Bill 686 which would remove the statute of limitations on civil claims for future incidents of child sexual abuse (1/10)
and retroactively revive claims that are currently time-barred, no matter how long ago the alleged abuse occurred.
Your Excellency, I am disgusted. You complain that it's not fair, that the church is singled out, and that this creates two classes of survivors, BUT (2/10)
instead of using your platform to advocate for all, you wish to punish the survivors of the institution that claims to possess the Truth, which wishes to be considered a moral beacon, an example for the rest of the world? (3/10)
The following documents supplement the police report and lawsuit draft I previously disseminated regarding @FranciscanU and the case against Fr. David Morrier. While several have speculated that the victim in this case provided the documents, she is not the source. (1/15)
These documents have been independently verified and are authentic. I have redacted the victim's name to protect her identity as well as the names of several innocent parties. (2/15)
This is the first in chronological order of many documents related to the case against convicted sex offender Father David Morrier. It details the exorcisms conducted by Fr. Michael Scanlan, Fr. David Morrier, (convicted Tier 3 sex offender) and includes comments (3/15)
On 3/11, Father David Morrier, TOR, pled guilty to one count of sexual battery. Franciscan University claimed they had no idea what Morrier was up to. I was provided a copy of the lawsuit by someone (not the victim) involved. dropbox.com/s/20ntkzph1lpo…
University President Father Dave Pivonka, chaplain Father Shawn Roberson, then-Minister Provincial Father Richard Davis, and Father Michael Scanlan, now-deceased former president and chancellor of Franciscan University knew that Morrier was conducting these deliverance sessions.
According to the lawsuit, Father Michael Scanlan was Morrier's mentor and participated in several of these sessions. When the victim told Scanlan that Morrier was raping her, Scanlan told her to practice "emotional chastity."
Last night, someone I considered a friend posted on FB that it was performative to announce unity with the Jewish people in light of Kanye's hatred and incitement of violence. That mental illness makes people do and say all sorts of horrible things. (1/13)
And that these same folks best not post a suicide hotline because it was clearly all performative. When I gently pushed back on this post, I was called a hypocrite who was unsafe for people whose family members died by suicide. (2/13)
I've never spoken about this publicly. But my grandfather, my Grandpop, the man who helped raise me after his daughter -- my mother -- died in childbirth, took his own life. He died by suicide. (3/13)
Today is the Catholic feast of St. Maximillian Kolbe, who gave his life in Auschwitz for a fellow prisoner who had a family. He was starved and finally executed via injection of carbolic acid when he wouldn't just die. He was a hero. He was also an antisemite. A thread. (1/12)
Now why speak ill of the dead? Well, here's why: first of all, the truth matters. Being honest matters. But for far too long, well-intended Catholics have used Kolbe to express pride in Catholicism during WW2 and reject any criticism of inaction or worse, to deny evil. (2/12)
Before the war, Maximillian Kolbe ran several publications. This is why he's the Patron Saint of Media Communications. Many of his writings aimed to spread the Catholic faith. Many of them aimed to spread Jew hatred. (3/12)
