some random thoughts on @fantasy_top_ activity falling off a cliff recently...
- of course it has. they targeted a group of novelty-seeking degenerate dopamine addicts with a shiny new casino product with limited replay value.
- this was the absolute right thing to do. they made a bunch of money, tested the mechanics, and probably learned a ton from the heavy usage.
- fantasy social makes sense to me in the way fantasy sports makes sense. there’s an arena people love and fantasy games are a way to extend the surface area where they can express and engage with that love.
- they should move away from CT influencers next. focus on the intersection of crypto enthusiasts and a non-crypto interest category (reality tv stars, artists, politicians, etc). figure out how to serve the right balance of social and financial motivations.
