I have determined that gen z don’t really believe in art criticism of any kind. They can’t produce it and can’t comprehend it. The text says exactly what it says. Nothing has subtext, social meaning, or ideological implications. Criticism itself is considered evil. They are fierce and committed anti-intellectuals.
This extends to anything at the edges of criticism. They hate self-reflection, and self-improvement. They hate seriousness. They are perfectly compliant ideological subjects, and timidly hide themselves under at least 100 levels of irony.
To criticize and be criticized means having a stable sense of self. There needs to be a self to criticize, or received criticism. They are porous, identity-less, and are obsessed with justifying their lack of self by pretending to be children.
