This lot think they have the right to interfere with Scottish democracy and reinstate the right to harass women outside clinics. The government knew theocrats would try this. Link below about some of their interesting sources of funding
Not just American evangelicals though, diocese in Scotland probably collect more donations for them vice.com/en/article/93b…
And gaming the courts is from the anti abortion playbook. That’s how they overturned Roe in American and just (unsuccessfully) tried to ban Mifepristone. What will happen next (as with England outside local buffer zones) an activist will hang around outside the clinic for as
long as it takes with people ready to film them. When asked by police to move they will refuse. In England they continue until they have to be arrested (here it will escalate to a fine). There will then be a lot of faux outrage from the far right about ‘thought crimes’
And it will be framed as ‘veteran/gran/charity worker’ ‘arrested for silently praying’. Then right wing tabloids uncritically go with the story and use a picture of them looking very sad while praying. Then right wing politicians take the opportunity to make a
fuss in Parliament. But this was expected in Scotland.
A group who have involved themselves in trying to interfere in English buffer zones are ADF U.K. so look out for them. Here’s a link to Southern Poverty Law Centre who have designated them as an extremist hate group in the USA. splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…

1 🧵I translated a Romanian news article into English re the young woman who died after being denied an abortion 💔
2 "I can't breathe" | The death of Alexandra and the revolt against the system that killed her. Her brother: doctors should save lives, not kill them.
3 The death of a pregnant young woman whom doctors refused to care for outside of working hours has sparked street protests in Botoșani. People are outraged and demanding justice for Alexandra (25 years old), a mother of three children, the oldest being five years old
🧵This woman is (or was) being represented by a Paul Conrathe who has a history of supporting blasphemy laws, and in 2001 took on the case of a man who wanted to legally force his ex to continue her unwanted pregnancy bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
He appears to have also taken on anti trans rights laws and is involved with conservative Christian organisations. I fully agree with Heidi that people with Down’s Syndrome matter. A person with Down’s Syndrome may need or want an abortion too. Bodily autonomy and disability
rights are not mutually exclusive. People with disabilities can be more vulnerable to abuse and can have pregnancy related health complaints too. Down’s Syndrome can’t be detected until later in gestation. So called ‘late term’ abortions are less than 2% of abortions
🧵 wrote to the Herald about Mason’s disgusting attempt to weaponise miscarriage in his attempt to remove choice from all women and people who can get pregnant (including little kids who start their period early). They have also platformed another man who hates women
but they at least didn’t give him the headline on the page, so there’s that I suppose
🧵 let’s channel our frustrations and turn this into #40daysforrights If we do a few today we will catch up, then I will add a new idea every day.
Day one: if you don’t already, follow @backoffscotland here and on Instagram and Facebook. Even if you already follow, you could
like and share some posts to help boost their message. You don’t need to live in Scotland to boost their message and support them.
Day Two of #40daysforrights follow @BPAS1968 who share information, campaigns and even have some interesting podcasts to listen to.
