TIM SCOTT: Under Joe Biden, communities have been devastated and ravaged by a wave of violent crime that we haven't seen in 5 decades

JONATHAN KARL: Actually senator, as you probably know, the latest stats on violent crime and on the murder rate show they're actually down this past year

JONATHAN KARL: Would you now favor Congress acting to ban bumpstocks? You said after the Vegas shooting that if the vote came up, it would sail through Congress.

TIM SCOTT: Well, I'm strongly in support of the 2nd amendment.

KARL: I asked about bumpstocks, not the 2nd amendment.

SCOTT: We're gonna focus on the priorities of the American people, and what the priorities of the American people are today is to focus on closing our southern border.

KARL: Trump floated the idea of raising tariffs. By some calculations, it's a 70% across the board tax on everything imported into the country. Would you favor a policy like that?

TIM SCOTT: Well Jon, I wasn't in that House meeting, I was in the Senate meeting. But what I can tell you is he talked about actually exempting taxation on tips.

KARL: Do you stand by your vote to certify Biden's election victory?

TIM SCOTT: Certainly. I will stand by that decision and the next decision -- to certify the fact that Donald Trump will be the next POTUS. November 5 -- the day of reckoning is coming.

Biden: "Frankly, I would've preferred to address this issue through bipartisan legislation ... but Republicans have left me no choice. Today, I'm announcing actions to bar migrants who cross our southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum."

Biden: "I believe immigration has always been the lifeblood of America ... so I will never demonize immigrants. I will never refer to immigrants as 'poisoning the blood of the country.' And further, I'll never separate children from their families at the border."
