In 2017, NEAR AI set out with a vision to teach machines to code.
Today, we are back under @ilblackdragon and @AlexSkidanov leadership with a focus to teach AI to build Web3 applications and accelerating the vision of User Ownership.
The roadmap for from the earliest days was this:
- Teach machines to code: AI Developer
- Using AI Developer, teach machines to do research: AI Researcher
- Using AI Researcher, advance science to achieve AGI
A core feature of the User-Owned Internet, beyond the obvious ones of asset and data ownership, is the power of customization: user-driven experiences that are built and personalized by users, rather than delivered top-down by big corporations.
Web3 so far has seen limited investment and developer efforts spent on building applications that most Internet users truly want to use. AI Developer work will initially allow developers to build applications faster.
Over time AI Developer will lower barriers to entry for non-technical people to build new applications.
Software ate the world. AI Developer enables everyone to be a builder in the new computing paradigm.
Research required to make meaningful progress on AI Developer includes (but not limited to) advanced reasoning, the ability to search for solutions and formally prove that code is correct to ensure it doesn’t have vulnerabilities and bugs.
These advancements will enable User-Owned AI to go beyond recombining existing data and instead come up with new concepts, a core feature of AI Researcher.
A new Internet is NEAR. Follow along at to learn more about User-Owned AI and catch up on the weekly NEAR AI Office Hours with Illia & Alex, with news on tech and products to follow soon.near.ai
