It’s finally here. The first-ever @Delta One Lounge opens tomorrow in New York, and it’s a stunning masterpiece.

In fact, it’s probably the nicest lounge in the country, and likely one of the best in the entire world.

Want to see why? Read on 🧵

From the moment you step inside, you’ll feel like you’re no longer in an airport.

For one, the space is massive—at nearly 40,000 square feet with 515 seats, it is Delta’s largest lounge ever.

And the design looks much more like a 5-star hotel than an airport lounge.

When you enter, you’ll face the signature fireplace lounge, designed in partnership with Missoni(!).

The other side of this area is the lounge’s Icon Bar, which pours top-shelf sips and is a great place to relax.

The fresh flowers add the perfect pop of color to contrast the more neutral woods here.

Where this lounge really shines is the amenities.

No matter what you’re looking to do, you’ll probably find it in this lounge.

There’s a spacious year-round outdoor terrace with seating for 40. Delta plans to even update the flowers seasonally.

The dining experience is extraordinary.

There’s a stunning 140-seat brasserie with an open-action kitchen. Just look at these pictures — this is a destination in itself.

Plus, Delta’s teaming up with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Events, and the food is delicious.

There’s also a more casual market and bakery area.

But this isn’t your typical lounge buffet.

Dishes are plated by waiters and then brought directly to your table.

I was an especially big fan of the create-your-own salad bowls and freshly made flatbreads.

As you go towards the back of the lounge, you’ll find the main relaxation areas.

Chief among them is the spa, which features nine relaxation pods and one treatment room.

Enjoy free 15-minute treatments at your leisure!

These relaxation spaces are designed beautifully with special lighting and seating designed to boost relaxation and help with jet lag.

All the artwork on the walls was specially curated for this lounge.

The 8 marble-clad shower suites are quite luxurious.

Enjoy plush robes and Grown Alchemist amenities, and even take advantage of valet steaming and shoe-shining services while you shower.

With so much to do, you might forget about catching up on work.

Fear not, there are 8 Framery phone booths, along with plenty of dedicated workstations.

Every single seat in this lounge is within arm’s reach of power + USB outlets.

Plus, to boost productivity, Delta debuting a very unique amenity.

You can borrow a second monitor while you’re in the lounge.

The airline bought a bunch of @espressodisplay, and I love this tech!

Wish more lounges did this.

(12/16) Image
This lounge even features elevators that go directly to the tarmac for Porsche transfers to the gate.

If you’re not lucky enough to snag a car ride, a golf cart will be waiting to shuttle you through the terminal to the gate.

This lounge is getting even better later this year.

Delta is opening a private security checkpoint for Delta One passengers.

So after you get dropped off at the airport, you head straight from security to the lounge without interacting with the general public.

(14/16)

So, how do you get inside?

Well, it’s only open to those in Delta One or select partner business- or first-class cabins. This includes premium transcon routes!

Delta 360 members can use the lounge anytime as long as they’re in biz or first class, even domestically.

(15/16) Image
The first Delta One Lounge is hands down the nicest business-class-only lounge in the country — and also one of the very best in the entire world.

With a luxe design, endless amenities, restaurant dining and plenty of space, this lounge is worth arriving early for.

Well, that didn’t go as planned.

My connection from Denver to Grand Junction was delayed, and once we were finally airborne, we diverted back to Denver because of high winds.

By now, I’m a pro at handling delays and cancellations — here’s how you can be one too.

(1/14)
I first caught wind of the diversion on @FlightRadar24, when I noticed we were turning around.

That’s when I recommend starting to look into alternative options.

Moments later, the captain came on the PA to announce our diversion. (Everyone groaned.)

(2/14) Image
We still had 30 mins to go to Denver, and most people were waiting until we landed for more info.

I was connected to Wi-Fi, and immediately got @United’s timely text notification.

The flight would be delayed overnight.

It was a moment that millions had been waiting for, and @Delta went all out.

The airline flew two sold-out path-of-totality flights from Texas to Detroit on Monday, and I was lucky to snag a window seat on one of them.

Here’s what it was like onboard.

(1/11) Image
Delta (literally and figuratively) rolled out the red carpet, starting in the AUS Sky Club.

Inside, there was a special solar eclipse table with Delta handing out glasses in partnership with @WarbyParker.

The airline also had two specialty solar eclipse-themed cocktails

(2/11)

Image
The gate area was adorned with a massive celebratory balloon arch.

There were 20+ Delta employees wearing eclipse gear and carrying signs with the airline's eclipse motto, "climbing the cosmos."

You may have never heard of @Condor before, but with brand-new Airbus A330neos and transatlantic business-class fares starting at $949, you’ll definitely want to give the airline a deeper look!

A thread 🧵

(Note I traveled on a free ticket provided by the airline.)

(1/9)
.@Condor used to fly aging cabins to the U.S., but they're now being replaced with a gorgeous business-class product on a brand-new plane.

The A330neo features 30 Safran Skylounge Core pods in the forward cabin.

(2/9)
Perhaps the biggest upgrade is direct aisle access for every passenger.

The forward-facing seats alternate between being closer and farther from the aisle.
