The numbers speak from themselves. Since NATO Allies agreed that we'd each spend 2% of GDP on our own national defenses, we've seen 9 straight years of increases.
The Defence Investment Pledge endorsed in 2014 called for Allies to meet the 2% of GDP guideline for defence spending and the 20% of annual defence expenditure guideline on major new equipment by 2024.
During a press event with other Western leaders at NATO headquarters in Brussels, President Trump said "NATO members must finally contribute their fair share." Watch the full speech here.
