On October 22nd at 6:54AM, Benjamin Glutton claimed it was Republicans making the Trump McDonald's appearance a three-day story. Let's see what's happened *just* since his claim yesterday. 🧵
Quick Disney story. I grew up with Disney as a child. In many ways it defined my childhood. Everything they produced, I consumed. And my parents intrinsically trusted them. And not without reason.
I took that trust into adulthood and into parenthood. And that served me well. I passed on my trust in this company and brand to my children. Took them on many vacations to WDW.
I remember, specifically, Moana. My daughter was 3 at the time. A lot of parent talk about Frozen breaking them. That was a little before me. Moana was that sweet spot with us.
I have a theory on The Bulwark and The Dispatch and The DryHandy or whatever else is next. Give me some leash here for a sec.
So, there are some voter profiles and interviews and polls that have gone around in recent years that show that progressives are way more likely to cut off personal relationships over politics than anyone else.
"Wrong side of history" and all that. They convince themselves that they are right to cut off long personal, and often times, family relationships over politics.
Jane Coaston on right issues: there’s a very clear correlation between horrible policy x and mainstream conservative thinking
Jane Coaston on left issues: this is a complicated multi-layered debate, so any radical unpleasantness cannot be blamed on conventional progressivism
Also, she is crystal clear about fucking EVERYTHING on the right. As soon as the conversation is about the left, she plays intentionally retarded, pretending to not understand direct questions and deliberately steering an inquiry into unrelated areas.
I don’t understand how conservative thought leaders who play footsie with her haven’t picked up on this tactic yet.
