Shakshuka is one of the easiest, most beautiful meals you can make at home. It’s made up of eggs poached in a spiced tomato sauce and is so delicious.

In this thread I’ll show you how to make it. Image
Firstly, your ingredients. There are many variations but this is the baseline recipe. You need: a can of peeled plum tomatoes, two shallots, a few cloves of garlic, harissa paste, cumin, a lemon, and four eggs. This will make two servings. Image
Before you start cooking, do your prep work. This only includes peeling and finely chopping the shallot and garlic. Simple! Now let’s cook. Image
In a skillet or frying pan, over medium heat, add a good amount of olive oil. When hot, add in the shallot and cook for five minutes, until translucent and fragrant. Then, add the garlic and cook for a further two minutes. Stir these around every 30 seconds so they don’t burn.
Image
Image
Once everything smells good, add in a large spoonful of harissa paste and mix together. Then, add roughly the same amount of cumin and mix. If it all gets too dry, add more olive oil.
Image
Image
Once everything is mixed, add in the can of tomatoes and crush them, mixing everything together. Season with salt and pepper, taste, and adjust for seasoning (including spices) as required. Leave this to reduce for five minutes. Image
Once thickened up, using a wooden spoon make some little holes in the tomato and, one by one, crack the eggs in. They will now cook in this liquid – it’s like poaching in water, only you’re cooking them in a tomato sauce instead. Don’t cover the pan or it’ll not thicken.

After 10-15 minutes, the eggs should be a nice consistency where the white is cooked but the yolks are still runny. Slice a lemon in half and squeeze some fresh juice from one half over the top of your meal. Image
You’re now ready to enjoy! Garnish with whatever leafy herb you’d like, and serve with some toasted sourdough! Image
If you liked this, the full recipe for this and dozens of other meals can be found in my latest book Sustenance, which is currently on sale with my other two books for 67% off!

One of the most beautiful pasta dishes in the world only takes fifteen minutes to make, and only needs a few ingredients! It’s called Cacio e Pepe.

In this thread I’ll show you how to make it! Image
For your ingredients, all you will need is pasta (spaghetti/linguine, 100g per person), pecorino romano cheese, butter, and black pepper. You’ll also need water, salt and olive oil. Image
Firstly, fill a pan with water and set it on to boil. Pasta releases starch when cooked, and you want the starchy water to be very concentrated here as it’ll help us later, so only use a little water.

When boiling, add the pasta.

Crème brûlée is my absolute favourite dessert. It tastes beautiful, and is so easy to make with only five ingredients.

This is all you’ll need for 4 desserts: 450ml whipping cream, 6 eggs, 70g caster sugar, some Demerara sugar & some vanilla extract.

Preheat the oven to 150C/300F and you’re ready to go. Image
Firstly, pour 450ml of whipping cream (or heavy cream) into a saucepan. Add a few drops of vanilla extract and put the pot on to boil.

Once it begins to boil, remove it from the heat and set aside. Image

Carbonara is one of the most beautiful pasta dishes you can make, and it’s also surprisingly very simple!

In this thread I’ll show you how: Image
Very few ingredients are needed.

For 2 people:

160g spaghetti, 2 eggs, 100g guanciale (or pancetta if you can’t get it), 150g pecorino Romano cheese, and black pepper. You’ll also need salt and water. Image

Then take your guanciale, trim off the skin and coating of spices, and cut it into roughly equal small chunks. Image

You can make the best “fast food” burger you’ve ever tasted in less than ten minutes at home. You only need four ingredients. In this thread I’ll show you how. Image
The only things you need for this to taste great are good quality ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat), salted butter, a burger bun, and American cheese slices. Salt and pepper as well, and of course you can add any other toppings you’d like. Image
Firstly, put a cast iron skillet onto high heat. Then roll some balls of beef, around 150g each. Don’t squeeze the meat together, it should just be loosely bound like shown in the picture, otherwise the meat will toughen up too much. Image
