We’re launching a series of tip sheets to help you navigate the appeal process more effectively. Here’s the first in the series.

🧵Before you Appeal 🧵

1.  Think before you appeal: Understand the reasons for the refusal of your planning application. The Local Planning Authority (LPA) outlines these reasons in the refusal notice. #LocalPlanningAuthority #LPA #appeal Image
2.  Consider a new application: Once you understand the reasons for refusal, consider making amendments to your proposal. Address the LPA’s concerns. This could be changing the design, reducing the development size, or providing additional information to support your application. Image
3. Engage with the #LPA: The LPA is usually open to discussions about revised applications. It’s always worth having a conversation with the LPA before deciding to appeal. #planningappeal #LocalPlanningAuthority Image
4.  Only appeal as a last resort: If you still believe that your proposal is sound, then an appeal might be the right course of action. However, the process can be lengthy with no guarantee of success. Be confident that you can present a strong case at appeal. #planningappeal Image
