We do all of this because we don’t just want to build a piece of software.
We want to build something that’s great, according to our values. Something that the next generation don’t just have to use, but LOVE.
To quote Jobs, “put something back to the humanity”

Most importantly, I feel grateful this is not just my life's work—but many people's at @NotionHQ
People like @sliminality, @jitl, Rob have gone through the highs & lows over the last 5+ years to make this real. (Rob built our Android app, security, IT, and now infra!)

Today, we are grateful that @NotionHQ might have touched & helped 100M of you in your work and lives.
An ode to the computing pioneers: software can augment human intellect.
An ode to the craft: software can and should be beautiful!
Looking ahead to 1B :–)

So for 5 years, “offline” has been the #1 request.
Today, thanks to the perseverance of our engineering team, @NotionHQ finally works offline. Your ideas don’t need Wi‑Fi to exist!
For Notion community: thank you for your patience while we built this right.
This is a journey, I want to share what we had to invent to make this real... 1/n
Why did offline take so long? You might ask.
Notion is unique. Unlike products like Apple Notes, which is private and stored on your device first, Notion is collaborative — it has to sync across workspaces with thousands of people. 2/n
And unlike Google Docs, Notion isn’t just pages. It’s a graph of interconnected blocks where tasks link to databases and link to knowledge base.
So we had to invent what didn’t exist, and migrate 100M+ users gracefully behind the scenes with zero downtime. 3/n
