Harris begins with comments on Biden: "Joe's record of accomplishment over his entire career and over the past 3.5 years is unmatched in modern history. In one term as president he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who served two terms."
HARRIS: "So Wisconsin, I am told as of this morning that we have earned the support of enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination."
CROWD: *wild cheering*
"I know Donald Trump's type" -- Harris makes the "prosecutor vs. felon" case against Trump, which is so well received by the crowd that they break into "KA-MA-LA! KA-MA-LA!" chants
Harris: "As AG of California I took on one of our country's largest for-profit colleges that was scamming students. Trump ran a for-profit college that scammed students. I specialized in cases involving sexual abuse. Trump was found liable for committing sexual abuse ... "
Harris: "We believe in a future where every person has an opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead. A future where no child has to grow up in poverty. Where every worker has the freedom to join a union. Where every person has affordable healthcare, childcare ... "
Harris on Project 2025: "Can you believe they put that thing in writing?"
Harris is quite quite good at this. even CNN is impressed.

I am going to put together a thread covering President Biden's torch-passing Oval Office address. Follow along for clips.
Biden from the Oval Office: "I revere this office, but I love this country more. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your president ... but this sacred task of perfecting our union, it's not me ... it's about we the people ... we are a great nation bc we are good people"
Biden: "We you elected me to this office, I promised to always level with you, to tell you the truth ... I believe my record as president merited a second term ... but nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy ... I've decided the best way forward is to pass the torch."
I'm going to put together a thread covering Trump's rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan -- his first since last weekend's assassination attempt. Follow along for clips and commentary.

One other preliminary note -- JD Vance spoke before Trump and was very flat. His Ivy League delivery isn't a good fit for the MAGA rally vibe.
Welp, it's that time again. I'm going to put together a thread covering the final night (thank goodness) of the 2024 RNC. Follow along for clips and commentary.

Steve Danies opens the last night of the RNC by vowing that Republicans are gonna "build the wall" and "drill baby drill." The talking points never change.
I'm going to put together a thread on night 3 of the RNC, which will be headlined by JD Vance. Follow along for clips and commentary.

RNC Chair Michael Whatley kicks things off with a whopper, claiming "our economy is not nearly as strong as it was 4 years ago." (The unemployment rate in July 2020 was over 10 percent; it's about 4 percent now.)
I'm going to put together a thread covering RNC night 2, the theme of which is "Make America Safer Again." (Even though America is much safer now than it was when Trump left office. But I digress.)
Follow along for clips and commentary.
