I used to walk 2.5 km (one way) from Andheri Station to my office every single day. It took me roughly 30 minutes, and by the end of it, I used to get completely drenched in sweat thanks to the notorious Mumbai humidity.
I needed to carry a separate shirt with me because I didn't want my coworkers to smell my body odour.
I tried cycling to work when I moved to Hyderabad in 2015, but the 42-degree heat during summers was too much. I would cycle/walk to work, too if India had milder climate.
I tried. And gave up.
High time influencers stopped shaming Indians for chasing comfort. It's okay to opt for a bike/scooter/AC cab to go to work. India's weather is too harsh. Why shy away from this reality?
I was pretty loud about my cycling commute to my office in Hyderabad. Here's a screenshot of an FB post from 2018. I tried this for more than a year and then opted to take my scooter instead.
Fun fact: During rush hour traffic, it was quicker to reach home on the bicycle than a cab.
