SitRep - 04/08/24 - On Air Force Day, Ukraine officially welcomed F-16's πŸ”₯

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Today, F-16's were officially announced, now in Ukrainian service. A new aviation era in Ukraine has started.

As usual we start with Russian losses over the past 24 hours. We include footage that shows damaged or destroyed Russian equipment and/or personnel.
5 out of 5 Shahed drones were shot down overnight.
Russian channels announced the damage inflicted to Morozovsk during the latest UAV attacks. A Su-34, aviation ammunition, flight control center and engineering equipment were either completely destroyed or damaged.
A D-20 howitzer destroyed.
During the recent attack on occupied Crimea, it looks like at least two launchers and a radar were either damaged or destroyed.
A 'customized' Russian BMP destroyed.
In occupied Luhansk, several explosions were recorded. A military plant was reportedly targetted and hit.
In Rostov, another lubricants storage went up in flames.
The 79th keeps going. This time a tank and three IFV's were destroyed in the vicinity of Pokrovsk.
Lets continue with the general events. Today it is the special day for the Ukrainian Air Force. Later today, we would know that it would indeed be a very special day.
Images of a Skynex Air Defense system supplied by Germany, already working inside Ukraine, emerged.
Ukraine is still working to gather NATO allies to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine.
The Economist reported that already 10 F-16's were delivered to Ukraine...
And than... finally... they are here. F-16's have officially been announced and are in operational service. Equipped with AIM-120B.
F-16's could be seen flying over Odesa. A great view.
This is the beginning of a new Ukrainian Air Force era.

After initially grabbing a foothold in the Zhovtnevyi district, Russians were pushed back over the canal. Now, Russians are attempting to push into the same district over the bridge a bit more south, until now unsuccesful. Fighting is very difficult. Image
In the Avdiivka-Pokrovsk direction, no specific changes but the situation is really very difficult for Ukrainian troops. Russians have considerable superiority in Infantry and air reinforcement. The real question is how Ukraine can turn this tide, because Russians have momentum. Image
