The right wing cope for what's happening in Britain is to go on about Keir Starmer.

The left wing cope for what's happening is to blame the "far right".

The reality is much, much worse.

This has nothing to do with the current government and a few racist idiots kicking off are the least of our worries.

Yes, the violent criminals should be prosecuted and given harsh sentences. And yes, Starmer and senior police officers have handled this badly.

But the fundamentals of this situation are inescapable.

Britain has a stagnant economy that relies on cheap foreign labour and a population that is utterly fed up of mass immigration.

We have an open border. No that's not an exaggeration. When I came to Britain in 1996, net *legal* immigration was around 55k a year. That's the number of people who come here *illegally* every year now.

We have a Muslim population, which like any large group is made up of all sorts of people. Most of them are decent and law abiding. But as a population the Muslim community has not integrated: more British Muslims joined ISIS and Al Nusra than the British army, per the Guardian and the New York Times. Google it.

The Equalities Act introduced "protected characteristics" which effectively made members of certain racial, ethnic and religious groups entitled to special treatment.

Partly as a result of this and partly due to the broader introduction of the idea of "diversity and inclusion", the police, social workers and all manner of government officials turned a blind eye to crimes committed by particular racial and ethnic groups. A good example would be so-called "grooming gangs" which are groups comprised of predominantly Pakistani and Bangladeshi men who targeted white and Sikh girls for gang rape. According to estimates there were several hundred thousand victims. These crimes have gone on for over 40 and continue to happen today.

The white British population is in demographic decline. They are not having enough children, while immigrants and ethnic minorities have lots of children. Combined with mass immigration of 600,000-700,000 a year, most British cities now look unrecognisable. White Britons are already a minority in London and other major cities and will become a minority in the country itself within our lifetimes.

It's important to understand that Britain isn't like America. Until very, very recently (2001) white British people made up nearly 90% of the population. Britain is not and has never been a "nation of immigrants". But it will be soon. Despite the fact that the British people voted against this at every opportunity. They voted against it in 2010, 2015, 2016 (Brexit), 2017 and 2019 when the people they elected promised to stop mass immigration and end illegal immigration. At the last election, they gave up on voting for the Conservatives and either voted for Nigel Farage's anti-immigration Reform Party or didn't vote at all, hence the lowest turnout for a century.

This is one of the reasons you see increasing levels of censorship and thought policing in the UK. As people begin to express dissent against what is happening, maintaining this state of affairs requires more and more suppression. This is one of the reasons they are going after @elonmusk - he has created a platform where we can see that the Emperor is naked with our own eyes.

The riots you are seeing have many underlying causes. Many of the people who are burning things down and looting shops are just violent thugs looking for a cheap thrill. The authorities will throw the book at them which they have to do.

But what they won't do is address the cause of the tensions which are bubbling away under the surface. They will give the can another big kick down the road.

I hope this particular flare up of violence can be calmed but you're kidding yourself if you think that will be the end of it.

P.S. There were many brave people who warned us this would happen. They were all demonised and ignored.

For my British and European friends who are "shocked" and "surprised", here are 10 reasons you didn't see this coming.

Read this short post and then read the replies from our American friends who will confirm what I'm saying.

1. Americans love their country and want it to be the best in the world. America is a nation of people who conquered a continent. They love strength. They love winning. Any leader who appeals to that has an automatic advantage.

2. Unlike Europeans, Americans have not accepted managed decline. They don't have Net Zero here, they believe in producing their own energy and making it as cheap as possible because they know that their prosperity depends on it.

3. Prices for most basic goods in the US have increased rapidly and are sky high. What the official statistics say about inflation and the reality of people's lives are not the same.

4. Unlike you, Americans do not believe in socialism. They believe in meritocracy. They don't care about the super rich being super rich because they know that they live in a country where being super rich is available to anyone with the talent and drive to make it. They don't resent success, they celebrate it.

5. Americans are the most pro-immigration people in the world. Read that again. Seriously, read it again. Americans love an immigrant success story. They want more talented immigrants to come to America. But they refuse to accept people coming illegally. They believe in having a border.

6. Americans are sensitive about racial issues and their country's imperfect history. They believe that those who are disadvantaged by the circumstances of their birth should be given the opportunity to succeed. What they reject, however, is the idea that in order to address the errors of the past new errors must be made. DEI is racist. They know it and they reject it precisely because they are not racist.

7. Americans are the most philosemitic nation on earth. October 7 and the pro-Hamas left's reaction shocked them to their very core because, among other things, they remember what 9/11 was like and they know jihad when they see it.

8. Americans are extremely practical people. They care about what works, not what sounds good. In Europe, we produce great writers and intellectuals. In America they produce (and attract) great engineers, businessmen and investors. Because of this, they care less about Trump's rhetoric than you do and more about his policies than you do.

9. Americans are deeply optimistic people. They hate negativity. The woke view of American history as a series of evils for which they must eternally apologise is utterly abhorrent to them. They believe in moving forward together, not endlessly obsessing about the past.

10. America is a country whose founding story is one of resistance to government overreach. They loathe unnecessary restrictions, regulations and control. They understand that freedom comes with the price of self-reliance and they pay it gladly.
Per suggestions, I really should have signed off with:

A lot of people asking how I managed to be so patient with the deranged arguments of my debate opponent.

The answer is I have a lot of practice in dealing with hostile, bad faith, dumb, rude and ideologically possessed people live on air:

How are people celebrating their political opponents having their bank accounts closed for political reasons?

I don't get how so many people are so incredibly stupid, immoral and dishonest. And I've never had a particularly favourable view of humanity in the first place.

You...
... don't have to like Nigel Farage or agree with him to think it's a terrible precedent to set for our country.

I voted Remain in 2016 and I wasn't happy to be on the losing side. Indeed, I remember feeling both shocked and bitter about it. That was an unpleasant 5 minutes...
...but then I moved on because I remembered we live in a democracy where it is not only possible but NORMAL for me to not always get my way politically.

How have we got to the point where politicians, journalists and other public figures will say nothing or, worse...

I would strongly caution people against celebrating what is happening in Russia. There have been fewer harsher critics of Putin's invasion but chaos is very rarely a good thing.

Prigozhin is not the only one with a private army in Russia. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has...
...a large force under his command who have 0 loyalty to Russia or Putin. They hate Wagner but if Putin has to be rescued by them, why not take him out as well as take over the country?

Will the national guard fight for Putin?

We don't have answers to any of these questions...
...and an armed mutiny in a nuclear nation is a big deal.

Russia latest: reports suggest Wagner column has bypassed major cities and potential fire-fights and is heading straight for Moscow.

Residents of Barabanovo reported seeing the column 30 mins ago.

If unimpeded, Wagner can be on the outskirts of Moscow within 1.5-2 hours.
With most combat ready units in Ukraine, God only knows how this ends.

A lot of people asking what is happening in Russia.

Basically, for many years Putin has been funding a mercenary company called Wagner and using them for military operations in other countries, especially Syria and various African countries.

During the course of the Ukraine War, there has been growing conflict between the Russian Ministry of Defence and the Wagner Group which has also been fighting in Ukraine. I wrote about it here:

After taking Bakhmut, a city in Eastern Ukraine with heavy casualties, Wagner rotated to the rear. As they were withdrawing from the front they claimed that their path had been mined by Russian MoD forces. Bomb disposal engineers they sent to deal with this...
