Pennsylvania Democrats have lost over +500,000 voters the past decade,
Demographically, Republicans may be on the verge of turning the state red with an outright majority of voters within the next few years
Here's the breakdown π§΅
After voting blue for decades, Trump finally flipped the state in 2016 by π΄+44,292 votes, less than a percent.
In 2020, Biden "won" it by just over 80,000 votes.
Yet, the deterioration of the Democratic party may have put victory out of reach for the left.
When Trump won the state in 2016, Democrats outnumbered Republicans by nearly 900,000 voters:
π΄ 3,301,182
π΅ 4,217,456
In 2020, Biden won the state with a nearly 700,000 party registration advantage:
π΄ 3,543,070
π΅ 4,228,888
Today? That difference is +350,000
π΄ 3,541,604
π΅ 3,899,599
So not only are Republicans on track to exceed their registrations from 4 years ago,
Democrats have LOST 329,289 voters from the state rolls.
That exceeds the winning difference between the candidates in 4 out of Pennsylvania's last 5 presidential elections.
The high water mark for Dems came in 2008, with nearly 4.5 MILLION registered.
They've since lost over 579,000 voters, or roughly 12% of their registrants.
And it doesn't appear they are switching to Independents either,
Indy/third-party registrations have only grown by just over +50,000 over the past 4 years.
Meanwhile, Republicans have GAINED over π΄+500,000 since Obama's Presidency.
I broke these numbers down a few months ago to showcase how, within the decade, Penn Republicans can control the State Government and the Congressional Delegation within the decade if trends continue.
