Slot has banned the players from doing back heels/drag back flicks in rondos.
Under Klopp all the players used them when space got tight but Slot and his coaches now want players to “open” their bodies instead.
Joe Gomez (only back in training a couple of days) used one in a rondo in today’s Inside Training and he was given a bib and had to go inside the circle, even though the flick came off well.
This links back to articles I’ve read about Slot’s training where it was stated he doesn’t let players use flicks but today’s Inside Training was the first time I’d seen it in practice.

Slot’s system so far looks like a combination of 3 midfielders but during the build up phase, 2 of those midfielder will be deep lying, trying to break down oppositions block.
That will be Mac Allister + One more.
When we’re talking about replacing Endō, it’s not simply a question of finding a player better than Endō.
Most likely, in this system, Endō will not be starting.
It’s about finding a player who is substantially better than all our OTHER options next to Mac Allister.
So far, the pecking order for the deep lying mids for me is:
