Iran’s Former President Bani-Sadr explains how Khomeini was a power-hungry maniac who survived on blood & hypocrisy and how inciting wars was his plan all along.
A Thread 🧵
Khomeini was prompted by the West; in Paris he was interviewed hundreds of times by westerner journalist. Made a name out of nothing and stole the revolution Iranian people made. He came up with the Great Satan story while having direct communication line with both Carter and Reagan.
Then he started a war against the intellectuals claiming that "we don't need them".
Khomeini had planned to start war with Iraq even before he reached Tehran from Paris.
His motives were not Islamic. The goal was restore the Iranian empire and to expand that empire towards Arab countries.
The strategy was named “Exporting the revolution” by inciting total wars, such as Iran-Iraq war.
Mullahs organised a model based on the Catholic church. Very Islamic of Khomeini.
Khomeini contacted Reagan on his first days in power. He was such a good tool for the “Great Satan” that the “Great Satan” himself threatened European countries not to intervene in the Iranian politics.
Americans had most of the Iranian regime in their pockets as early as 1980. Examples: Beheshti, Rafsanjani, Behzad Nabavi, Mohsen Reza.
Khomeini was after one thing only: Power.
Even though Carter reassured Khomeini and promised to prevent the defeat of Iran. Both Carter and Reagan offered arms and spare parts. Khomeini played on both lines, and in return practiced Taqiyya and chose Reagan’s offer instead.
Khomeini dragged the hostages negotiations to allow Reagan to win the elections. Khomeini’s analysis in letting Reagan win was as dumb as it could be:
To affirm the relationship between "Great Satan" and Khomeini, Vice President Bush traveled to France personally and made the hostage-for-weapons deals himself.
Khomeini basically gave the hostages as an inauguration gift to Reagan.
The "Great Satan" couldn't be happier.
Reagan returned the gift and facilitated the arm deals with Israel.
Reagan double-returned the favour and saved Khomeini regime, with help of Saudis.
Iraqi intelligence managed to recruit Ghotbzadeh and he was planning for a coup.
Ghotbzadeh requested finances from Saudis, who refused and told Americans what was ongoing.
Americans sent the intel to Khomeini and Ghotbzadeh was executed.
Additional to USA and Israel, Soviets also provided arms to Khomeini during the war.
The Mullah plays every game available.
Soviets also helped Khomeini planning to stage a coup on Saddam.
Obviously they were not that smart to execute it. They need the west to do their bidding.
Khomeini reached power with intention to get back at Saddam as a punishment for his exile.
Saddam offered apologise for exiling Khomeini to France, but Khomeini chose not to accept and to continue with the aggression towards Iraq.
Khomeini’s regime literally survived on blood.
The highest level of decision-making acknowledged that the war was their fault but continued to blame Iraq. At the same time Iran refused peace negotiations.
Taqiyya at its best.
The questions were being asked in Iran: did Iran fight the war for America or for Israel?
Iran’s army was reduced to 57% elementary pupils with no training.
After countless of peace offerings, Iraq was starting to win the war.
The West was surprised by the Iraqi Victory. The limitless support to Iran was yielding nothing.
This was the reason why the west would conspire against Iraq in later years.
Iraq Victory made Khomeini accept the peace resolution. From “over my dead body” to “poisonous chalice”. Khomeini was a sore loser.
A loser.
Iran’s politics is still run on the same dynamics as the Iran Gate since the 1980s.
Nothing changed.
That's why history needs to be understood.

His legacy is entering cities after being flattened by American and Russian airstrikes
Once he sent a message to the American Ambassador in Iraq:
“I swear on the grave of Khomeini I haven’t authorised a bullet against the U.S.”
The New Yorker, which once exposed the horrors of Abu Ghraib, published a remarkable article in 2013 about Qassem Soleimani.
This piece, worth revisiting today, unveils the covert collaboration between Soleimani and the Americans before the invasion of Afghanistan and during the occupation of Iraq.
Here are some of the key revelations:
1- The Afghanistan Connection
Following the September 11 attacks, the U.S., eager to avenge its humiliation, targeted Afghanistan as its first stop. The opportunistic Iranian regime, through Swiss intermediaries, offered assistance in the invasion.
This is how Iran with tacit U.S. approval managed to rob Iraq a generational wealth!

Iraq is the lungs in which Iran breathes, it’s the golden cow. Most of the foreign currency Iran has comes from its neighbour Iraq, through corruption and mass money laundering. It's safe to say that without Iraq Iran would be in a much harder financial situation.
Hence Iraq is Iran’s single most important foreign policy brief. Iraq is sitting on a sea of oil and gas, and other resources. Iraq contains the largest Arab Shia population in the world and Iran made it a mission to control them.
World bank statistics suggests Iraqi has a GDP of $285.5bn. With Iran factions in power Iran ensured a significant portion of this wealth is transferred into Iran since 2003.
Iran made the milking of Iraqi resources its most important political objective.
After the fall of the National Regime in Baghdad in 2003. Al-Hakim, Iranian origin cleric who the US appointed head of Interim Governing Council, started off his role as “leader of Iraq”. His first statement was announcing that Iran had the right to seek reparations and Iraq had to pay.
That was the first clear indication of intention of Iran's faction future looting of Iraq’s resources. The US made a name out of these Iranian-bred 'politicians' and allied with them to promote anti-Iraq propaganda. Most of them were unknown to Iraqis before 2003.
US officials met with Iranians months before the 2003 invasion of Iraq and followed Iranian instructions of destroying Iraq and its identity
The Iranian involvement in the invasion of Iraq. How Iran served the US prior the invasion of Iraq:

Zalmay Khalilzad @realZalmayMK is a name Iraqis loathe and disgust, the former ambassador and special convoy to Iraq and Afghanistan was involved in the destruction of both countries.
In Iraq he was assigned with roles to unify the fractured opposition prior the 2003 invasion.
After the invasion he was assigned with identifying Iraq’s new “leaders”.
@realZalmayMK The plan was to overthrow the independent National Regime regardless. An independent Iraq was just unacceptable.
Even if a coup was meant to happen within the regime against the Saddam, the USA would have invaded anyways.
Hezbollah trained Iraqi militias to kidnap, torture, kill Palestinian Refugees in Iraq

According to HRW, Shia militias (current Axis of Resistance; PMF) did not spare much time before attacking the Palestinian communities in Baghdad after the toppling of Saddam’s regime 2003.
Thousands have been murdered.
Interior of Interior was under the control of Badr , an Iranian faction (currently PMF), known for drilling the heads of their victims also participated in these assaults.
