Iโve been trying to understand why @TheEmmys are standing by its nomination of Bisan Owda, an Al Jazeera journalist + member of the PFLP terrorist organization, and I think I might have an idea: It's the sponsors ๐งต
As a reminder: Al Jazeera and its US-based subsidiary AJ+ (which created the docuseries along with Bisan), are controlled by the Qatari government.
Among the sponsors for the Emmy Awards shows are the WNBA team New York Liberty and LEGO
Both New York Liberty and LEGO have direct commercial relationships with Qatar.
NY Liberty and the Barclays Center (its home arena) are sponsored by Qatar Airways, which provides VIP experiences and branding opportunities at games
LEGO, for its part, has partnered with Qatar's Tourism Ministry for major events, such as "LEGO Shows Qatar 2024," held at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
What stands out here is the integration of LEGO within Qatar's broader tourism and cultural development strategy
The refusal by the Emmys to rescind Bisan Owda's nomination, despite clear proof of her PFLP ties (as seen below), raises questions about Qatar's influence over its sponsors.
Qatarโs use of cultural investments and strategic partnerships could be a tool to maintain its favorable global image and deflect criticisms, as done most prominently in 2022 by hosting the World Cup.
Breaking: Iโve just discovered that next monthโs annual Al Jazeera Forum will feature a keynote by Iranโs foreign minister โ fresh off his regime slaughtering 43,000 in the streets โ alongside Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal.
Letโs take a closer look at this conference, shall we?๐งต
On its face, the conference theme sounds like the usual nauseating, sanctimonious, academia-infused soirรฉe one might expect from Doha. But look at the actual lineup, and the mask slips.
Keynote speakers include Iranโs foreign minister Abbas Araghchi, the president of Somalia, the head of Tรผrkiyeโs Directorate of Communications, the director general of Al Jazeera Media Network and a member of Qatarโs ruling family, MEP Rima Hassan and some Chinese government dude
A disturbing new report by @JewishOnliner details how Qatar Foundation International funnels tens of millions into American K-12 schools.
Qatar does so with no oversight from the U.S. government and no transparency requirements whatsoever.
Letโs dive in, shall we? ๐งต
This 2020 map shows only Arabic-language K-12 programs funded by Qatar Foundation International.
Because itโs outdated and limited in scope, it understates the number of school districts and excludes other Qatar-funded efforts like curriculum development and teacher training.
As an example, Houston Independent School District has received ongoing Qatar Foundation International funding since 2015 totaling at least $340,000, including $85,000 that it recieved in 2025.
Breaking: The Department of Education just launched a public dashboard showing just how much foreign funding is being injected into American universities.
Unsurprisingly, Qatar is in first place with a whopping $6.6 billion. But let's dig deeper into the data, shall we? ๐งต
The $6.6 billion from Qatar is made up of 1,223 "transactions"
These "transactions" are mostly classified as contracts, restricted contracts, and gifts
A review of the U.S. Treasuryโs OFAC database found that Qatar hosts multiple individuals designated as terrorists by the U.S. Why is Qatar giving them safe haven?
First on the list is Abd Al-Salam, a Qatari passport holder tied to ISIS and Al Qaeda
Nasrallah Abd Al-Dayim is also based in Qatar. The U.S. State Dept. has identified him as a longtime Hamas member involved in the transfer of tens of millions to Hamas and its Qassam Brigades.
The department offers a reward of up to $10 million for information on him.
Al Banai Ali Reda Hassan is a Qatari national linked to Hezbollah โ an organization responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. Marines
Hereโs a thread of prominent accounts that have been subverting the US by flooding X with anti-American, anti-Israel, demoralizing, or Marxist content aimed specifically at Americans.
Several of them pose as Americans. But now the jig is up.
