SitRep - 27/08/24 - After Kursk, Belgorod is next?

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. After Kursk, Ukrainian forces are now allegedly trying to break into the Belgorod region, causing panic among Russians.

As usual we start with Russian losses over the past 24 hours.
Fuel tanks in Proletarsk keep burning, 10 days after the initial strike.
Consequences seen on satellite images show serious damage to the oil depot.
After saturating Ukrainian air defense yesterday, Russia again launched a missile and drone attack.
The 79th Air Assault Brigade repelled yet another mechanized attack in the Mar'inka direction.
Ukraine destroyed a jamming/EW-station in the Kursk region.
Lets continue with the general events. Ukraine vouched to do something after the big Russian attack. It said it will strike deep in the Russian rear with new equipment.
The US has sent new aid to repair critical energy infrastructure.
Ukraine is willing to provide the US with a list of targets it wants to strike inside Russia.
China presented a peace plan, which is not even created with the consent of Ukraine.
Shmyhal expectes a $50 billion aid package for Ukraine by the end of this year.
Zelenskyi confirmed that F-16's were already put to use to help in repelling a recent Russian missile and drone attack.
The US and Norway/Denmark have upgraded EW systems on F-16's that were provided to Ukraine.
Stoltenberg called for a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine council on Ukraine's request.
The US still does not allow Ukraine to strike deep inside Russia with US supplied long-range weapons.

➡️Russians advanced from the eastern part of the city towards the center. There is also geolocated footage showing a Russian group of soldiers running into the western part, planting a Russian flag. We don't know if this is permanent or if they were driven back. Image

➡️RU sources and the governor confirmed skirmishes are ongoing.
➡️RU sources claim that near Shebekino, there are also ongoing fights, unconfirmed.

By the end of the day, some Russian sources have reported that Ukrainian forces managed to break trough several parts of the Belgorod border and have entrenched. Those that initially reported the attacks, are now very silent. We will have to wait for more info for confirmation.
