There used to be “discourse.” A “marketplace of ideas.” Genuine engagement. The media has always had an element of cynicism to it, but it hasn’t always been like this.

No one’s done that in at least 10 years. The sides are drawn. Every word of “discourse” is instrumentalized.
The level of public cynicism and dishonesty is unfathomable to someone from even 25 years ago.

But we still keep the traditions — the appearance of “discourse.”

The emperor has no clothes, and with social media, every man is his own emperor
The naked truth is that everything’s pure instinct now. Reflex.

Leftists have an instinctual revulsion to white people. That’s their driving impulse. The Right is a lot less unified, but the most-unifying revulsion is to disorder.
Everything skinsuiting as an “argument” is just expressing this lizard-brain-tier reflex.

It doesn’t matter the topic — the reflex creates the argument.

Arguments created those reflexes, 15-70 years ago maybe. But those arguments don’t “exist” anymore. Just the reflexes.
The term has been beaten to death, but definitionally this is a “cargo cult”

This is a really common misconception: that the Spanish in the New World won totally by virtue of technology.

Yes, they did have guns and armor and cannons and whatnot. But over half of the time, these were useless!

Especially in the conquest of Mexico, the Spanish didn’t just steamroll the natives with firearms, or fight invincibly due to horses and armor.

These things certainly helped. But usually the powder was wet, and the weather and terrain were too nasty for armor or cavalry charges. Image
From their landing to the siege of Tenochtitlan, the average battle was a frantic, hand-to-hand struggle with comparable arms and armor.

The Spanish had crossbowmen; the natives had archers/slingers. The Spanish had rapiers and rotellos; the natives had macuahuitls and shields. Image

I am loath to give Destiny any kind of credit, but he’s not wrong that there are significant and complex bot networks on here (and all social media).

Text-based apps like X, Facebook, etc. are the most affected. In this video he’s wading through multiple different types.
1. Third Worlders

“They all type a certain way” — it’s just ESL. Indians, Filipinos, Indonesians, etc. are the typical demos for paid comments and engagement.

These are the lowest-effort and, in my view, most innocuous type (besides being annoying).
2. Sophisticated, single-point scams

Dr. Weird-name is an example of this. The comments on his video are third worlders, but “he” is some kind of experimental project. I would guess it’s some way to farm views or (more likely) to scam people somehow.

Maybe it’s just a schizo.

Pizarro to Atahualpa, 1532:

“Do not take it as an insult that you have been defeated and taken prisoner, for with the Christians who come with me, though so few in number, I have conquered greater kingdoms than yours, and have defeated other more powerful lords than you...” Image
“...imposing upon them the dominion of the Emperor, whose vassal I am, and who is King of Spain and of the universal world.”

[This discourse is quoted directly from the Xeres account of the conquest]

“...We come to conquer this land by his command, that all may come to a knowledge of God, and of His Holy Catholic Faith; and by reason of our good object, God, the Creator, permits this [...] It is for this reason that we, being so few in number, subjugate that vast host.” Image

“The ick” is a funny thing

It’s a widespread admission that nobody is really attracted to each other anymore, and dating is just a slot-machine game until you find someone that doesn’t offend your sensibilities

“The ick” doesn’t exist when people are attracted to each other
Image
(This is because everyone is fat and sexless)
If the US population lost a collective ~7.5 billion pounds of fat (avg. 25lbs per person), we’d be halfway there to fixing it

The other half is minimizing endocrine disruption and fixing the culture. Though I suspect the culture would naturally heal over time.

Archeology is a sort of cartel.

You can dig for any other reason, in just about any country, with minimal paperwork… *except* if it’s for historical research.

In that case, it’s highly illegal. [1/6] Image
The common man (or even the credentialed archeologist who lacks institutional support) is effectively barred from doing archeology.

Even a large bank account cannot buy unlimited access — many countries of interest require local babysitters for any dig.
Rewriting history, then, is effectively illegal.

For example — Schliemann would never be allowed to find Troy today. Even if he did, he’d be arrested and the site would be locked in bureaucratic channels for decades.

"Embrace your weird!" "Be uniquely you!" and similar slogans seemed to take over K-12 educators like some sort of prion around 2010. Any youth-oriented place or media is plastered with them. This perfectly coincides with a drastic increase in forced conformity.
"Be unique," but be "unique" in precisely the same direction as everyone else; be "unique" until this "uniqueness" counters established norms that the same sycophants pretend don't exist; it is a bizarre environment and particularly hostile toward young boys/men.
This whole thing reads to me as a 20-year-long Revenge of the Nerds, by spiteful mutants who felt their own inadequacy so strongly that they framed it as persecution. Now they vicariously try to "take down" their perceived childhood "antagonists" in the next generation.
