Graham Plant, Member for Highways, was yesterday asked at Cabinet if the new government’s more supportive approach to active travel would result in any changes to the way Norfolk CC views active travel.
His response was that the existing guidance from DfT remains in place. 1/3
That means “Plan for drivers”, introduced under the Sunak government.
We’ve already seen active travel schemes watered down as a direct result of County Highways being told not to do anything that upsets drivers. 2/3
“Plan for drivers” needs to be scrapped.
@LouHaigh, @UKLabour, you’re going to have to do a lot more than say nice things about active travel. The dead hand of the last government is still in control. 3/3
