The worst torture methods in human history ~ a thread 🧵
(Don't open this if you're sensitive)
Flaying is a method of slow and painful torture and/or execution in which skin is removed from the body. Generally, an attempt is made to keep the removed portion of skin intact
Scaphism was a brutal execution method where victims were trapped between boats, smeared with honey, and left in the sun or a stagnant pool to be eaten alive by insects and rodents.
Rat torture, used in medieval times, involved placing hungry rats in a cage strapped to the victim's stomach. The cage was heated, forcing the rats to claw and chew through the victim to escape.
