from a practical viewpoint,the base/evm ecosystem and its users seem to view speculation or tokens as some kind of cardinal sin. at best this is wrong, at worst it’s bad for our space.
additionally, the team at @SolanaFndn has jumped in massively. @voteforpedrito connecting us to everyone we needed to know, @aeyakovenko and @rajgokal dm’ing with me in the middle of the night, etc.
from a more high level viewpoint:
unlonely is better suited culturally for solana.
- we like going against the status quo
- we like interactive content powered by tokens, and think this leads to net new internet experiences
- we also think users should be excited to speculate on the value of those experiences, instead of virtue signaling and arguing about tweets
- many of my friends are founders on base, and they seem to think that base is going to send coinbase users to their app or list their token — this is pure delusion. no investor, enterprise partner, board member, advisor is coming to save you. lock in.
on a more personal note, my transition from being a hardcore eth maxi to solana manlet coincided strongly with two things: observing market conditions and a growing desire to win.
at the end of the day, crypto is about money.
it's about tokens.
it's about speculation and creating capital markets on the internet.
feelings don’t matter.
being preachy or woke doesn’t matter.
interoperability does not matter. eventually it probably will, but right now the race is to build products users actually want to spend time on.
