@LaRussellGC In many ways, Dolores Tucker and ... Rev. Calvin Butts were correct; but Tupac was too young to understand what they were trying to say; a lot of old heads 'at the time' were trying to save us from the path we were headed down; a lot of us, refused to hear them out -

@LaRussellGC Rev. Butts said, "We're not against rap, we're not against rappers; but we are against those thugs!" -- and Bone Thugs N Harmony used it for the intro to their song; nobody wanted to hear none of that shit back then - and I wonder if 'we' wanna hear it, now ....

@LaRussellGC Part of the issue was 'free speech' - young cats wanted the freedom to express what they wanted; Pac wasn't alone; NWA before him; Luther Campbell (2 Live Crew) aswell - a lot of MCs around that same time were putting, what some felt were negative aspects of our culture, on wax -

@LaRussellGC The elders at that time, felt the music being made should be more uplifting; more positive; where as the youngsters felt rap music should reflect their lived experiences; Be it Gangbangin, Pimpin, Thuggin, or Poppin that ass ... this time it's a little different;

more and more there are calls from the young heads - saying Enough is enough; saying yea, maybe we do need to make better music; and maybe we need to like better music as well ... and honestly I'm here for what seems to be unfolding -
