❌ Die Chatkontrolle ist der größte Angriff auf Bürgerrechte in Europa.
Eine Massenüberwachung sorgt nicht für mehr Sicherheit für Kinder, sondern ist insbesondere durch ein Angriff auf Verschlüsselung und damit sichere Kommunikation. Anbieter wie Signal drohen schon damit sich aus der EU zurückzuziehen, weil sichere und private Kommunikation in Europa nicht mehr möglich wäre. Wie ist der Stand der Verhandlungen? Ein Thread🧵
Im Parlament haben wir der Chatkontrolle eine klare Absage erteilt. Für ein europäisches Gesetz braucht es aber beide Gesetzgeber. Bisher gab es im Rat eine Blockade. Vor allem auch weil Deutschland dagegen war und unser Bundesjustizminister @MarcoBuschmann andere Länder von unserer Position überzeugen konnte. So lange es im Rat keine Mehrheit gibt, kann es keine weiteren Verhandlungen mit dem Parlament geben.
Morgen hat die belgische Ratspräsidentschaft eine neue Abstimmung angesetzt. Über einen Text mit leichten kosmetischen Veränderungen. Das Grundproblem einer Massenüberwachung und Schwächung der Verschlüsselung bleibt. Leider scheint zum Beispiel Frankreich, das den Vorschlag bislang abgelehnt hat, mittlerweile zu einer Zustimmung zu tendieren. Andere Länder sind unsicher. Es könnte also möglicherweise morgen zu einer Mehrheit für die Chatkontrolle im Rat kommen.
