Remember Rape Spring? Well it was more of a civil war than the military police, the military prosecutor, the army, or Israeli media or politicians let on. I’ll update when the translation is published, but in the meantime here’s the short of it👇🧵
Turns out that the videos that were published by the Rape Revolters were conveniently edited to leave out the parts where they assaulted military police, and in masks & full military gear threatened to kill them while aiming their weapons unless they release their rapey comrades.
The Rape Revolutionaries of Unit 100 beat the military police so badly that some of them withdrew their testimonies which were given “in tears”, others are afraid to testify at all, and others quit doing fieldwork “because it was so traumatic”.
But it’s not just the direct physical violence of the day. Some officers quit their job following their names being published online, and the military police is refraining from investigating the incident against its men “because of public pressures from right wing elements.”
An anonymous military person interviewed by Haaretz said “I don’t want to imagine what would’ve happened to the interrogators if they were in Sde Teiman during the raid, they would have lynched them.” He also complains that the military police & prosecutor aren’t doing their job.
Which puts this interview, with one of the main instigators in the published videos of this incident (who- despite accruing celebrity status since the coup- Haaretz fails to mention), about the following interrogations, in a slightly different light.
All of the above was done with the direct supervision and explicit order of the unit commander on the scene. And of course, channel 14 was an active part of this coup, airing the edited videos in real time. No investigation about their participation is mentioned in the article.
The article also doesn’t mention investigation into any direct connection to Israel minister of national security Itamar Ben-Gvir (the guy in charge of the civil police), despite the fact that the above main instigator, Meir Ben-Shitrit, is on camera demanding that he be called.
And no commentary on a Haaretz article would be complete without mentioning how it slyly toes the party line. Despite the man being identified as a police officer, Haaretz insists on labeling him “a Hamas operative”.
Finally, I’d like to point out that, in fact, this military coup was extremely successful. The military police- rather than its usual unwillingness- is UNABLE to carry out its duties and neither is the military prosecutor, as Israel’s army commits genocide.
Day #45 of the #GHF thread👇🧵 The killing field mercenary management team continues to attempt acquiring legitimacy and being rebuffed: “We will not eat from the hands that killed us.”
Day #43 of the #GHF thread and the revelations don't stop for a second. Made your career covering up for a @TheDemocrats administration? Come make the big bucks whitewashing literal killing fields as they actively assist in the extermination of a people 💀💵
Day #42 of the #GHF thread starts as it always does. A massacre. Including the most recent count from yesterday, since the opening of the killing fields, 788 aid seekers have been killed, 5161 injured, and 41 have been disappeared.
