If Trump overturns the 2024 election, here’s how it could happen.
No matter the results, how many votes remain uncounted & how many advisers tell him otherwise, on election night *Donald Trump will declare himself the winner*
👉According to lawmakers, congressional investigators, party operatives, election officials & constitutional law experts, it goes something like this:
— Deepen distrust in the results with unsupported or hyperbolic claims of widespread voter fraud and longshot lawsuits challenging enough ballots to flip the outcome in key states.
— Lean on friendly county and state officials to resist certifying results — a futile errand that would nevertheless fuel a campaign to put pressure on elected GOP legislators in statehouses and Congress.
— Call on allies in GOP-controlled swing-state legislatures to appoint “alternate” presidential electors.
— Rely on congressional Republicans to endorse these alternate electors — or at least reject Democratic electors — when they convene to certify the outcome.
