It’s seems like a great learning opportunity when faced with challenges with *any* new technology.
The paths taken here are different to what I would have done.
1/ I would have gone down the image not building on my machine rabbit hole. Like relentlessly. Would not even entertain moving on until that is sorted. Build a simple image and keep going till you figure out whats up. This isn’t an obscure computer so there will be help out there.
2/ i would not rely on AI to give me answers to devops solutions without my then fully understanding what is happening.
3/. I would accept that if i am using a wrapper around docker to deploy my app that I would need to be proficient in docker. Not an expert. But proficient. Especially if something goes wrong (see my previous tweet today about starting from basics). In 2024 there is more than enough free resources to get up to speed on the basics.
All in all I hope they don’t give up. Stubbing your toe like this *is* learning but it can be demotivating. But its part of the game.
