NEW INVESTIGATION: Is Israel taking a page out of its Gaza playbook when it comes to Lebanon’s healthcare sector? @cnn analysis of more than 240 airstrikes found the Israeli military dropped bombs in ‘lethal range’ of 19 hospitals in the first month of its all-out offensive in Lebanon
I reviewed hundreds of videos from the ground and Israeli military evacuation orders to track how aerial bombardment has impacted Lebanon’s medical facilities. We found Israel dropped munitions within what is known as a ‘lethal’ range or ‘kill zone’ of at least 19 hospitals
a kill zone is a 340-meter radius around a target where white hot metal fragments can tear through buildings and people. (measurement based on GBU-39 small diameter bomb)
16 of the hospitals we identified were damaged, according to data compiled by the Lebanese health ministry and medics on the ground. a total of 34 have been damaged since Sep. 23, around 20% of the country's hospitals
Lebanon’s health minister, Firass Abiad, told @tamaraqiblawi the country's healthcare sector has rarely been so vulnerable. He accused Israel of “weaponizing” access to healthcare and drew parallels to Gaza, where Israel has openly attacked hospitals
@tamaraqiblawi Here’s @tamaraqiblawi explaining our findings more eloquently than I ever could
