Elser almost prevented the deadliest conflict in human history as Hitler only narrowly escaped Elser’s assassination attempt. But he is largely kept out of Germany’s post-war narrative due to his communist affiliations.

Elser first received political inspiration and impetus as an apprentice. He became a member of the Woodworkers’ Union and, in 1928, joined the paramilitary organization of the German Communist Party (KPD), the Red Front Fighters’ League (RFB).

Indian revolutionary and professor of English, Dr. G.N. Saibaba, has passed away. He died from a heart attack and medical complications resulting from his imprisonment and torture by the fascist Indian government. Read on about his legacy. 🧵

Many are characterizing Saibaba’s passing as a summary execution by the Indian state. Saibaba was almost completely disabled from a childhood bout of polio. While detained, the state denied him medication and confiscated his wheelchair.

Saibaba suffered from further medical neglect when he contracted COVID-19 twice and swine flu on another occasion. He was targeted and humiliated by the state in order to make an example out of his advocacy for oppressed groups in India.

At least 31 alleged Maoist guerrillas have been killed by Indian police and paramilitary forces. The clashes are just the latest in the state’s coordinated efforts to crush the movement aiming to bring about socialist revolution. 🧵

The Civil Liberties Committee of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has called for an investigation into the killings. Some are alleging it was a “fake encounter” in which civilians, not Maoist guerrillas, were killed.

The attacks occurred in the Abujhmad forest in the eastern state of Chhattisgarh, a stronghold of the Maoist movement and an area which contains rich deposits of natural resources like iron and bauxite.

Israel asserts its right to "self defense". However, under international law you do not have a right to defend yourself from a nation you are occupying, in fact, those being occupied are the ones with the right to self-defense under law.

Israel claims that they don’t violate international law. Aside from their numerous atrocities since October 7, their ongoing and expanding settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law, according to Article 49 of the Geneva convention.

Today marks “German Unity Day,” the reunification of Germany in 1990. While the elite celebrated the creation of a single German state, it was a neoliberal disaster for the citizens of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). 🧵

The GDR, located in the eastern part of the country, identified itself as a “workers and peasants state” until 1990, when it was dismantled and transformed into a neoliberal experiment, primarily influenced by economist Hans Willgerodt.

Willgerodt advocated for deregulation and favored letting the integration of the GDR into the capitalist West German state unfold through “the market.”
