Wait wait wait. The Harris campaign existed for ~100 days, raised over a billion dollars, spent $450,000 a day on one ad on the Last Vegas Sphere, had at least a half dozen high budget concerts with like Katy Perry or whatever, now it's $20 million in debt and can't pay staff?
Of course there's a typo in a hit tweet. Las* Vegas 🫠
Oh boy this just started picking up steam so just so we are clear: free Palestine, join your local socialist organization/party, abolish the police, unionize your workplace, take public transit, and if you see someone stealing basic necessities, no you didn't.
Btw, someone didn't like the source I posted, so here is the Politico reporter sited in it saying he has two sources lol.
When ppl claim "mental illness" invalidates political acts like self-immolation, it reveals a lot about their view of disabled people's autonomy & capacity for political engagement. It implies political choices are less valid bc of disability. We shouldn't entertain this. 1/
"Mental illness" is a broad classification historically weaponized against anyone who deviates from social norms, in particular those whose deviance challenges power structures. It is disproportionately applied to marginalized people to justify institutionalizing them. 2/
If someone ends their life - not because of politics, but becauae of some other personal struggle/hardship - the public mourns & is often compelled to take action to prevent future tragedies. We get things like anti-bullying legislation, vigils, & solidarity demonstrations. 3/
In 2010, my last year of undergrad at UC Irvine, an event occured featuring Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador. His speech was disrupted by some of my schoolmates in the Muslim Student Union, advocating for Palestinian liberation in a rare opportunity to speak truth to power. 🧵
I was not personally at the event, but I absolutely remember the discourse and tension on campus in the days and months following the protest. Admittedly, at the time I knew very little about the geopolitical nightmare that is occupied Palestine. 2/
As a white woman from the US, my understanding was limited to the main talking points regurgitated by American mainstream, corporate media -- "it's complicated," "both sides think the area belongs to them, because of religious beliefs," "we are allied with Israel," etc. 3/
I was exposed to covid on Friday at an event which required proof of vaccination upon entry.
Currently, I do not have symptoms & I'm awaiting test results. 7 fully-vaccinated people I know are now sick and tested positive. 1/
Of my 7 friends who were at the same strict vaxxed-only event on Friday and have tested positive, all are reporting mild-moderate cold symptoms. The person feeling the worst got the 80% effective J&J vaccine, while the rest of us got Pfizer or Moderna, suggesting... 2/
we are likely dealing with the Delta variant, given efficacy of the different vaccines for this newer strain and the cold-like symptoms, to the best of my knowledge, anyway.
Today my sister was passing out frozen water bottles to unhoused folks in Ballard & some woman scoffed & said "really, plastic bottles???" My sister yelled "are you fucking kidding me right now?" and the lady rolled her eyes & walked into a nail salon.
Y'all, I'm losing it. 🤬🤬
It's like there are 2 Seattles. Half of us are horrified & concerned for people's safety & the other half thinks giving water to thirsty, exhausted people is somehow The Problem. The audacity of this woman. She is so lucky I wasn't there & my sister is nicer than me.
So this seems to be doing numbers. I do not have a sound cloud.
