Here's why I voted against the most recent @ENS_DAO working group funding. (I've responded to people privately about this but sorry I hadn't said anything publicly yet, I've been busy with some other things.)
First, amounts. I think the ecosystem WG is asking for way too much money, they already have a lot of money, and I'm concerned ENS in general is spending tons of money without proportionate benefit.
These wg budgets plus the massive increase in the budget of the core team represents maybe a 5x increase from what we were spending not too long ago. Are things 5x better? Are we growing the ecosystem faster, spreading the word more effectively, and shipping more?

A common misconception about Sign-in w/ Ethereum (SIWE) is that it's just another name for Connect Wallet (CW).

SIWE *uses* CW, but goes further. Both are needed in different apps depending on how a service works.

It's important for both users & devs to know the differenceπŸ‘‡

First, what is Connect Wallet?

Let's consider a dapp like Uniswap.

I go to their webapp (app.uniswap.org), I click Connect, I pick my wallet provider, and I'm ready to go.

This is simply CW, not SIWE. Here's why:

With CW, you don't authenticate/sign-in to any Uniswap company server to use Uniswap. You have no "Uniswap account".

Instead, you're simply allowing the webapp to see your eth address and prompt you in your wallet to approve txns (e.g. to make a trade).

Update on Virgil Griffith:

Virgil has been in solitary confinement for nearly 3 months. Not as a punishment but b/c it was the only place they had available beds in his prison πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

He'll be moved to the general population once there's room, but it's unclear when that will be.

He's of course alone all the time, only gets out of his cell an hour a day, highly limited on the things he can have in his cell or receive in the mail, e.g. he can't receive books in the mail (but can in the general prison population). He also says his food is not reliable.

No one has been able to visit him so far.

A few ppl were set to try earlier this month (there's a process to even get permission to visit) but it was cancelled due to a covid shutdown.

which government will be the first to acquire some $ENS and start participating in DAO governance?
definitely an opportunity for a more entrepreneurial govt bureaucrat to win their country the distinction of being the first
could be a big country (some department just makes it happen) or a smaller country, I could see either happening
