When I was stripping in atlantic city, the main customers were bachelor parties. "Average" men who were about to get married and brought their "average" friends, many of whom were already married. Many customers were cops/state troopers, professors, men that worked in tech (1/?)
I've met lawyers, architects, contractors, doctors, businessmen, men in the military, all types of people. There were so many times where a man would pull out their phone to send me $ and their screensaver was those types of professional family photos with their wives and kids
The notion that "average" men do not go to the strip club and that it's only pedos and super ugly men is literally just not true. When I danced in NYC it was less bachelor parties but still men in all professions. The regulars would come in right after they got off work looking
for girls with no glitter or perfume asking to do an hour VIP because they needed to get home to their family's for dinner. The husbandswere the main ones hurting and sexually assaulting dancers in the clubs, taking their anger/frustration towards their wives out on us
I used to dream of being someone's wife, now id literally never do that. Those wives have no idea what their husbands were doing after work and on work trips, that's the kind of shit that teaches you A LOT about men. Even though it isn't every man obv, it's truly enough of them!
I got choked out by a bachelor that told me that he was going to get married in 2 weeks. It shook tf outta me because I'm sure his fiancé was so gassed that she was about to get married but had no idea her man was choking out strippers and I fear for her to this day
Omg do yall not know what the word adjacent means?! I'm not saying everything women do is sex work, but a lot of it is similar. Anyways I took this class at NYU called Deviance and Social Control and it explored how society is not consistent in it's labeling of deviant behavior
"The same law prevents the rich and the poor from stealing bread." We had a segment dedicated to SW and one of our final papers was "sugar babies vs. prostitutes" bc how can you differentiate the two? One is a crime and put countless women in prison, why isn't the other a crime?
When I'm saying different jobs/careers (besides stripping/being a 304) are adjacent to SW it's because there are common denominators, primarily that the hotter you look to men, the more skin you show, the more money you will make. Men only coming to your job bc ur hot and --
you only making $ because of that, what does that remind you of? I wasn't expecting this many people to see this and respond, I hope yall understand what im tryna explain.
Also laughing at me saying that I used to want to get married and that no one would ever marry me isn't the dunk you think it is. I was a little girl once and am still a daughter. I grew up watching disney movies and reading romance novels and realized men are rarely like that
Women get into SW for all types of reasons, mine was that after getting raped for the first time while at NYU and getting into an abusive relationship afterwards and receiving no justice for either, that I might as well make money off of it if it was going to happen regardless
I don't regret my decisions and I'm not ashamed. It is their shame not mine and it's unfortunate for the time being that my body and looks are more profitable than what I can contribute to society based upon my schooling/actual interests. It isn't forever though! Thx everyone
Hopefully this is the last point I make but people keep bringing up statistics as a "gotcha" to try to make it seem like I made this all up or have no experiences outside of a strip club. Have any of you ever participated in a survey saying you've been to a strip club?
Do you genuinely believe that strip clubs are honest when they report how many customers they've had or how much money they actually make? A place that primarily deals in cash? Do you think men are honest all the time when they are asked if they see SWers? Esp married men?
Have you answered a survey revealing how much porn you've consumed in your life? At no point in this thread did I say ALL men interact with SWers, and the existence of strip clubs, brothels, red light districts around the world that have existed for thousands of years should --
tell you that no matter how small you believe the number of men that engage with these things, at the very least it is millions of men. Millions upon millions. I don't apply mathematics to my lived experiences and me sharing all of this was never a conversation about statistics
You can tell me I'm a dumb whore that doesn't know math that needs to open a book but what suggestion can I give you in return to learn empathy and humanities? Because you didn't learn it at home, you didn't learn it in schools, and you definitely didn't learn it outside
I can't teach anyone how to humanize other people that live differently than you, I can't teach someone that does not see other people as human beings how to do so. Esp when the people degrading me are religious and feel morally superior. The God I pray to is the only one that -
can judge me and he loves me. “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes enter the kingdom of God before you” (Matthews 21:31). It does not bring me joy to be in this line of work, it doesn't bring me joy that this line of work even exists.
Tonight I'll pray for the people who have shared the hatred in their hearts with me. May you one day be cleared of such darkness, violence, and judgements and be encouraged to practice the love and kindness that your God preaches. Thank you again for the kind messages
