The world's GDP this year 2024 will be $109 Trillion. World debt is multiples of that at $315 Trillion. The world is already "levered up".
GDP grows around 3% per year. Debt grows more than 50% faster at ~ 4-6% per year.. Currently, there is no path to reduce that ratio.
Unless... there is a way to onboard the couple billion people not yet connected to the economy in underdeveloped countries..
If there is a framework for plugging people from the “informal economy” to the formal economy that ratio can revert some day.

The back story - in 1986 I was hired by a consulting firm when I was at @HarvardHBS to do a project for the monopoly owner of the “photo typesetting” market. A company called Compugraphic. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compugrap…
Compugraphic had built up a $500M cash position (a LOT in the 1980’s !) and could see the glimmers of changes coming with digital printing and the @Apple Macintosh recently released.
