DEBUNKING THE ISLAMIC ORIGINS OF GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE / THREAD

In the last years claims that gothic architecture was stolen from muslims, parroted especially by Diana Darke, have gone viral in an attempt to discredit European civilization so i'll debunk many of the claims 👇

1/POINTED ARCHES
There is evidence of pointed arches being used in europe before islamic world like the 7th century pointed arches of a byzantine aqueduct in Cyprus & a 6th century visigothic mosaic from Cordoba depicting an arcade of pointed arches supported by columns 👇

The 2nd example is even more interesting bc the mosaic is located below the Cordoba mosque build 200 years after which also has superposing blind arcades similar to those of the mosaics. This also debunks that intersecting blind archades were muslim in origin like Diana claims
