1/10 There seems to be no limit to the cruelty inflicted on Palestinians in #Gaza. For over 40 days, people in North Gaza have been under siege: surrounded, bombed, denied the basic means of survival and ordered to flee under threat. A🧵 Image
2/10 We’ve tried to get into #Jabalya #BeitHanoun #BeitLahiya daily for over a month. Israeli forces have denied almost all requests. The result? People are under rubble without rescue. The sick and wounded can’t reach hospitals. Safe water and food have run out. Lives are lost. Image
3/10 In one of the handful of instances that teams reached the area, aid trucks were stopped at a military holding point and most of the food was looted. Israeli soldiers then forced us to offload the remaining trucks at their checkpoint. The food was left on the ground to rot. Image
4/10 In another case, teams reached a school to distribute food. Right after they left, Israeli forces surrounded the school, fired at it and forced people sheltering there to evacuate. The school was then burnt to the ground.
5/10 More than once, hospitals would be hit soon after UN teams had reached them. Freshly delivered supplies destroyed. When did it become unnoticeable to starve and smoke patients and health workers out of hospitals? Image
6/10 People are telling us that they feel they are being punished if they receive assistance in areas under siege. They are being forcibly displaced - at all costs - into areas that continue to come under attack and that lack food, water, shelter and health care. Image
7/10 We recently escorted an ambulance to collect an elderly woman who had walked from #Jabalya with her suitcase and collapsed after passing the Israeli checkpoint into the south. Were it not for our headlights, stray dogs would have continued attacking her. Image
8/10 The woman had walked south looking for safety, but nowhere is safe. Food shortages have reached the south as well. Bakeries are being forced to shut. Hospitals are overcrowded. The streets are full of sewerage. Makeshift tents are torn apart by weather. Image
9/10 We can’t get supplies into the south of Gaza. There has been a breakdown of law and order because the civilian police are targeted and unable to work. Criminal gangs now loot trucks in areas under the control of Israeli forces. Image
10/10 We are witnessing the destruction of Palestinian life. Even the graveyards are full. Families are dying together and being buried together in one grave because there is no longer space for the dead or the living. These atrocities must end. Image

1/11 Everyone in Gaza feels as if they have been put on death row. If not killed by bombs or bullets, they are slowly suffocating from a lack of the basic means of survival. The only difference is the speed at which you die. The world has failed #Gaza. A🧵… Image
2/11 Palestinians in Gaza have experienced more than a year of deprivation, destruction, death and displacement. Survivors have told us @UNOCHA that they were the unlucky ones because they did not die with the rest of their family. Image
3/11 Gaza now has the highest cohort of child amputees in the world. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have life-altering injuries. Yet relentless bombardments continue, including in areas to which Israeli forces have ordered Palestinians to go – which makes up only 19% of Gaza Image
