On this day last year the now resident female arrived in Cambridge. After reading the red colour ring on her left leg which has the letters TVH on it we knew where she’d come from. Here's a summary of what we know of her life so far
She hatched at the nest tray on the spire of Wakefield Cathedral in 2021. This is a photo of her when she was ringed as a chick

A few weeks older and perched on the edge of the nest tray
After fledging the nest she eventually left Wakefield and was seen in Lincoln in March 2023
On 6th December 2023 she was seen in Cambridge.
In late December 2023 she was now being seen perched on King's with the male nearby
She liked to spend a lot of her time on the University library in the run up to the breeding season and the pair were seen bonding and mating there
Even a week or so before we hoped she would lay eggs, it was unclear which nest site the pair would use
Eventually they chose the current and reliable location that peregrines have been using since 2015. A chick was seen on 11th May
The pair successfully raised two chicks (one male, one female), who eventually fledged successfully and could be seen around the city centre for the next few months. The male chick was a good flyer from the start, the female less so and more demanding
TVH, as she is known to local peregrine enthusiasts was visited by people who saw her grow up in Wakefield. They enjoyed seeing how she was getting on and also getting to see her offspring
In recent months the pair have been spending a lot of time in close proximity and interesting behaviour such as cooperative hunting has been witnessed. They’ve also been roosting on the side of King’s chapel on a regular basis too
