SitRep - 07/12/24 - Zelensky met Macron and Trump

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky went to Paris and met with Macron and Trump to talk about Ukraine.

As usual we start with Russian losses over the past 2 hours.
Overnight, 13 Shahed drones were taken out.
Explosions rang out in Adygea overnight.
The GUR shared footage of naval and aerial drone attacks on oil/gas rigs in the Black Sea.
A TOR-M2 was destroyed.
Footage of a Shahed drone escorted by Ukrainian helicopters before eventually being taken down over safe ground.
A BMP-2 destroyed
Lets continue with the general events. An update on the victim count in Zaporizhzia which was attacked by Russia.
Zelensky said a new batch of F-16's has arrived in Ukraine bringing the total to over 10 already.
Its election time and Scholz is mumbling only about 'peace'. What is the next step: Ukraine should concede?
Ukraine will receive an upgrade to its StarLink systems.
The GUR said that 1/3 of Russian supply facilities have been damaged.
Zelensky arrived in France.
The EU summit on 19 December will be focussed on Ukraine.
Zelensky met with several officials. Such as the Austrian Chancellor.
The 38th Marine Brigade is now also equipped with MARDER IFV's.
Zelensky met with Macron and Trump.
He also met with the Georgian President and underlined his support for the ongoing struggle against Russian influence.
Zelensky reported he had productive meetings.
The US announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $988 million.

Overnight, a lot happened. Homs was captured by rebel forces, but most important: the capital Damascus has been captured and Bashar Al-Assad has fled. Everywhere, Syrians took out on the streets.

A thread covering the events in Syria. After HTS-led rebel forces took control over Hama, they moved south and have been spotted in Al-Dar Al-Kabira, just ~5km to Homs city center. Ar-Rastan an Talbiseh are likely already under rebel control. It is going fast and the SAA is collapsing.

Rebel forces have indeed already taken Talbiseh and moved further south to Homs. It is really not inconceivable that they start the battle of Homs today. The question is whether the SAA will offer any resistance at all.
