SitRep - 08/12/24 - Jake Sullivan back in a negative role
An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Today Jake Sullivan made comments about F-16s and Abrams for Ukraine where, again, he places the problem outside of himself.
A negative role for Jake Sullivan today in terms of statements. First he said that -despite the US willingness- there were too few Ukrainian pilots to train on the F-16. He forgot to mention it was the US that stalled the delivery and training of F-16.
In the same interview he said that Abrams tanks are not working for Ukrainians. Did he forget even Australia sent more and that in 3 years time they have sent a bare minimum of 31? Again, initially stalling deliveries.
To the front line situation. For the latest state of affairs at the front, I advise you to consult my interactive map.

Vuhledar direction
North of Vuhledar, Russians have made slight gains towards Sukhyi Yaly, new geolocated footage confirms. The ultimate goal of Russians is reaching the road between Kostyantynopil and Kurakhove.
Pokrovsk
A bit more north, Russians are moving towards Pokrovsk, mainly south of it. They almost reached Shevchenko. If they continue their push northwest they will be able to reach the Dnipro-Pokrovsk road which is the main supply road of the city.

A thread covering the events in Syria: Assad has fallen.
Overnight, a lot happened. Homs was captured by rebel forces, but most important: the capital Damascus has been captured and Bashar Al-Assad has fled. Everywhere, Syrians took out on the streets.
The statue of Hafez Al-Assad is being dragged through the streets and the people celebrate. This is said to be the coast of Syria, possibly Latakia or Tartous. Rebels factions are also on their way to the Syrian coast.

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky attended the presentation of the 'Hell', capable of speeds up to 700 km/h and a range of over 700 km.
A thread covering the events in Syria. After HTS-led rebel forces took control over Hama, they moved south and have been spotted in Al-Dar Al-Kabira, just ~5km to Homs city center. Ar-Rastan an Talbiseh are likely already under rebel control. It is going fast and the SAA is collapsing.
Rebel forces have indeed already taken Talbiseh and moved further south to Homs. It is really not inconceivable that they start the battle of Homs today. The question is whether the SAA will offer any resistance at all.
