#Haiti - Massacre at Wharf Jérémie: Death toll now reaches 300, testimonies from a former soldier from Micanor
Unprecedented carnage is shaking Wharf Jérémie in Cité Soleil, where gang leader Micanor continues to sow terror among the civilian population. According to Isaïe Bauchard, former mayor of Cité Soleil, the death toll from the massacres perpetrated by this gang now stands at 300. Last Tuesday and Wednesday alone, some fifty people were reportedly killed.
These brutal executions, ordered by Micanor, are said to be aimed at punishing those he accuses of having transmitted information to the media about the previous killings, reports Ayibopost .
Among the poignant testimonies, that of a 17-year-old boy, a former soldier of the gang, illustrates the horror of the methods used. Forced by Micanor to burn down his own mother's house, he refused and fled. In retaliation, the gang burned down the house themselves, with the boy's entire family inside. His mother, his 14-year-old sister - pregnant at the time - and other members of his family perished in the flames.
Former Mayor Bauchard, who collected the testimony of the fleeing teenager, denounces an escalation of inhuman violence. The situation at Wharf Jérémie illustrates the dramatic deterioration of living conditions in Cité Soleil, where gangs operate with impunity, leaving civilians at the mercy of indescribable violence.
The authorities remain silent in the face of these atrocities, and calls for help from residents seem to fall on deaf ears. This massacre calls for urgent intervention to protect vulnerable populations and restore some semblance of order in this devastated area.

Senator Antonio Cheramy aka Don Kato, may have recently begun talking about the coup but when it mattered most in #Haiti in 2004 he was, along with his political patron Rene Preval, conspicuously silent. The political parties, LESPWA, INITE & VERITE represent 3 waves of
Preval's project to marginalize Lavalas & co-opt their base through the formation of political franchises. Don Kato began his political trajectory as part of the VERITE wave in 2015 when Preval saw an opportunity to capitalize on the performer's celebrity as a member
of one of Haiti's most popular bands, Brother's Posse. Preval presented him as his choice for Senator of the West Department. Other members of VERITE included disaffected Lavalas cultivated as part of Preval's strategy for containing the popularity of
So-called #Haiti CORE GROUP divided on removal of Jovenel Moise
As has always bee the case, the fate of the presidency of Jovenel Moise lies with foreigners consulting with Haiti’s elite and not with the people of Haiti themselves. (The CORE GROUP was installed at the
insistence of the US as the foreign overseers of Haiti’s future including indemnity for UN troops killing resistance under the pretext of a Chapter 7 invasion of the country following the 2004 coup against Aristide: un.org/press/en/2004/…
The CORE GROUP appears divided into two camps with US Ambassador Michelle Sison leading the charge for the trump administration to keep Jovenel Moise in power and, in an interesting reversal, France’s Ambassador José Gomèz at the head of those supporting his removal and the
