There is no way I’m voting for this Christmas Parade of Horribles that is the latest Continuing Resolution. It's one of the worst bills I've ever seen, packed with handouts for the swamp.
Here are just a few of the egregious giveaways buried in this monstrosity👇🧵
The bill fully funds rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
A man-made accident caused the collapse and taxpayers are now on the hook for billions of dollars?
The company at fault–and their insurance–should be paying for this. Not the American taxpayer.
This CR hands over federal land–FREE of charge–to DC to build an NFL stadium.
We’re handing over land to one of the most poorly run cities in America, just so they can subsidize a multi-billion dollar entertainment business. The NFL doesn’t need public handouts, especially from a city that can’t even manage basic services.
This is nothing more than a Christmas gift to the swamp, funded by the taxpayer.
Festivals and stadium concerts have apparently found their way into Congress’ holiday spending spree with the American Music Tourism Act being tucked into this CR.
Yes, you read that right–your tax dollars are now funding ‘music tourism.’
Who decided this was a priority?
The CR also piles on more federal regulations in telecommunications, healthcare, and financial services.
More red tape. Higher compliance costs. An expanded administrative state that makes life harder for everyday Americans.
The CR expands the Pandemic and All-Hazards
Preparedness Act to include:
• Funding for gain-of-function research
• More unchecked “Emergency” powers
• Vaccine and mask mandates
• Vaccine passports
Have we learned NOTHING from the horrific abuses the government imposed during COVID? These same overreaching policies are being set up to control us again.
Of all the issues facing America, the CR prioritizes... Haiti?
Haiti is a nation plagued by political instability and rampant corruption. It’s hardly a viable democracy and can’t be trusted with American taxpayer dollars
Where’s the focus on our border, economy, citizens, and security?
Broken Promises
Speaker Mike Johnson promised no more CRs. Now here we are. Democrats win, Americans lose. All in a Republican-controlled House!
It’s no wonder why Americans don’t trust Congress…
We were given a mandate for fiscal responsibility. This CR spits in the face of that mandate.
🚨Today, the House voted on H.R. 7148, an appropriations bill for Defense, Labor, HHS, Education, Transportation, and HUD. This minibus is yet another spending binge at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Here are more ways that Washington is wasting your money… 🧵
❌ $3,002,000 for a Minnesota hospital offering puberty blockers and gender surgery referrals to children. @SenTinaSmith @SenAmyKlobuchar
❌ $375,000 for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts. @SenMarkey @SenWarren
🚨Today, Congress voted on H.R. 7006, yet another funding package loaded with waste and other left-wing pork. I voted NO on this bill because we cannot afford plunging our country deeper into debt. You deserve to know what your lawmakers are spending your hard earned money on. So here are a few examples of how Washington is wasting your money… 🧵
❌ $315,000 for the National Endowment for Democracy, a left-wing group that wastes money abroad and actively censors President Trump and his supporters.
❌$643,000,000 for the United States Agency for Global Media, a government entity with a reputation for fraud, waste, and abuse. President Trump has already issued an executive order closing this agency.
We are more than $38 trillion in debt. The American people elected Republicans to cut spending and eliminate left-wing waste in the budget. H.R. 6938 does none of this, which is why I voted NO today.
Not only does this “minibus” fail to reduce spending, but it is also packed with Democrat earmarks and socialist pet projects that federal tax dollars have no business financing. Here are just a few examples... 🧵
❌ $1,031,000 for a “Climate Corps Fellowship”, a Green New Deal scam pushed by the @RepPressley
❌ $450,000 to an opera house that regularly features LGBT, drag, and cabaret shows This venue is currently hosting auditions for “Cabaret (1998)” where actors are being asked to wear Nazi armbands, give the “heil” salute, and participate in “sexual situations with all genders." @ChrisCoons
(1/8): Let’s not sugarcoat this: high-level Obama administration officials tried to pull a coup on President Trump with the Russiagate hoax. Here’s how the Deep State tried to undermine our Commander in Chief with its Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russian interference in the 2016 election…🧵
(2/8): The entire Russiagate myth was propped up by unreliable reporting, unknown sources, and politically motivated actors. Obama administration officials pulled a single sentence fragment from one substandard report to launch the narrative that Putin preferred Trump as a candidate over Hillary Clinton. On top of that, the DCIA peddled implausible claims to the public in order to advance the lie that Putin wanted Trump in the White House.
(3/8) Among the unreliable and discredited sources cited by the ICA was Christopher Steele with his infamous dossier. Even though the FBI determined Steele’s principal subsource wasn’t credible and lacked access to Russian covert action plans, the Bureau still used the Steele dossier to obtain surveillance warrants on U.S. citizens.
Yes, the FBI used the fake Steele dossier to target Americans.
Thank you to all who continue to pray for Congressman Steube. The Congressman was knocked approximately 25 feet down off a ladder while cutting tree limbs on his Sarasota property yesterday afternoon.
The Congressman spent the night in the ICU where several serious injuries are still under assessment but not life threatening at this time. He is making progress and in good spirits.
Congressman Steube and his family would like to express their deepest thanks to the team of doctors, nurses, and medical personnel treating him.
Tonight, I voted against an additional $40 billion of new funding in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
I have long supported the Ukrainian people in their fight against Putin’s evil aggression. That’s why I voted in April to approve a loan of U.S. military equipment to Ukraine and voted in March for $14 billion in military and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine.
Since then, Congress has not received a single report on how much of this funding was spent, if any, nor assurances that the funding even reached Ukraine.
