Why The Crusades were INSANELY Based (& justified) - a 💎🧵
Historically, after the Edict of Milan, Christianity spread far to the west and east of the Roman Empire becoming the dominant religion in the areas outlined in this map ⬇️
In the mid 600's arab warlords made their way out of the arabian peninsula and began conquering violently the lands around them - they brought with them their own religion: Islam.
They managed to spread even to southern Italy & France.
In response to centuries of islamic agression and opression of Christians within the HISTORICAL christan lands of North Africa, the Holy Land, Iberia and southern Italy the Christin Kings of Europe, under the support of the Vicar of Christ, decided to launch offensives to TAKE BACK their lands and free their people.
Enough was enough, if the situation in the west was dire, you can only imagine what was happening in the east to our brothers and the pilgrims in the Holy land.
In 1095 Pope Urban II calls the first crusade to take back the Holy Land and drive Islam out of Europe.
"Although, O sons of God, you have promised more firmly than ever to keep the peace among yourselves and to preserve the rights of the church, there remains still an important work for you to do. … For your brethren who live in the east are in urgent need of your help, and you must hasten to give them the aid which has often been promised them. For, as the most of you have heard, the Turks and Arabs have attacked them and have conquered the territory of Romania as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean… They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians… They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire… On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ's heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends… Christ commands it." - Pope Urban II
The Crusades were successful.
The Goals were achieved. Europe remains Christian and for centuries our christian bretheren in North Africa and the Holy Land were free under European Rule.
If anything a new Reconquista and a new age of Crusades is what the world needs again.

"No religion on earth has ever honored women as much as Christianity does." - a🧵
A bold claim? Not so much. Let’s dive into why this statement is 100% true through the lenses of Apostolic Christianity.
Christ included women in his ministery
>He revealed He was the Messiah firstly to the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4).
>He welcomed Mary of Bethany to “sit at His feet” as a disciple (Luke 10,39). A role traditionally reserved for men.
>Women were the first witnesses of the Resurrection, the cornerstone of our faith (Matthew 28, 1-10)
Countless Christian women have changed and shaped society for the better.
Isabel la Catolica, Queen of Castille, finished the Reconquista
St. Monica’s prayers converted St. Augustine.
St. Macrina the Younger shaped the minds of her brothers, Sts. Basil and Gregory of Nyssa.
St. Catherine of Siena advised popes and reformed the Church.
Not to mention the 4 female doctors of the Church: Hildegard of Bingen, Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Ávila, Thérèse of Lisieux.
Can you imagine what it would be like getting yearly letters from Santa describing his tales of battle with goblins and adventures on the North Pole?
That’s exactly what J.R.R. Tolkien’s children experienced for over two decades, here's the story - a🧵🎄🎅
J.R.R. Tolkien's Father Christmas Letters is a collection of letters that he wrote and illustrated for his children between for 23 years (1920-1943).
The tradition began in 1920, when Tolkien's eldest son, John, was three years old. Each year, around Christmas, Tolkien would write a letter addressed to his children from Father Christmas. These letters were delivered in envelopes with North Pole stamps and often included hand-drawn illustrations. Over time, as Tolkien’s family grew, the letters became a cherished part of their holiday celebrations.
🤓: "The Crusades all failed & were defeated"
The Crusades were not only justified they were sucessfull - a 🧵✝️
1/ The Crusades Objective:
The Crusades were not only about reclaiming the Holy Land; their broader success was in ensuring Europe remained Christian, halting centuries of Islamic expansion that threatened the Christian identity of the West and the freedom of Europe.
For centuries leading up to the Crusades, Islamic forces had aggressively expanded. The Islamic conquests spanned from the Middle East to North Africa, and into Iberia, reaching the gates of Europe. The Byzantine Empire and other Christian territories were under constant threat.
2/ Pope Urban II's Call to Arms (1095):
In response, Pope Urban II launched the First Crusade, urging Christians to defend their faith. His call came after repeated appeals from the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I, whose empire was being overrun by Seljuk Turks. Urban's justification was rooted in defending Christendom from Islamic imperialism and protecting Christian lands.
Finally. Enough of marvel. Enough of remakes. The people want a resurge of historical/mythological films.

Here's a brief history of the Siege of Malta:
In the year of Our Lord 1565, the tiny island of Malta became the stage for one of history's most dramatic and heroic battles. It was a clash between the forces of light & darkness, truth & heresy.
Malta, the last bastion of Christendom in the central Mediterranean, stood against the might of the Ottoman Empire, whose ambition was to dominate Europe and extinguish the light of the Christian faith.
The Ottoman Sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent, sought to expand his dominion over the Christian West. Having already conquered vast swathes of Europe, Asia, and Africa, his gaze turned to Malta. The island was held by the Knights of St. John, a devout Catholic order of warrior-monks who had been expelled from their previous stronghold in Rhodes by Suleiman himself. Despite their small numbers, the Knights had rebuilt their strength and fortified Malta, vowing to defend it as a bulwark for Christendom.
