As of January 17, 2025, approximately 10,400 Palestinians are being held hostage in Israeli prisons, many on false charges.
The hostages include women and children and can be held by the military for renewable periods based on “secret evidence” that neither the detainee nor their lawyer is allowed to see.
Israel is holding at least 2070 Palestinians without being charged or allowed to stand trial.

As of June 30, 2024, the IOF was holding 226 Palestinian children in detention or prison on “security” grounds.
Each year, 500 to 700 Palestinian children, some as young as 11, are detained and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system, with stone-throwing being the most common charge.
