Asamoah Gyan has had a full blown rant on Instagram live on captaincy, leadership in Ghana and the infamous 2010 World Cup penalty miss.
🧵Here’s a thread of some key parts.

Gyan slams "coward" teammates over infamous Uruguay penalty miss.
“How could anyone even suggest that I missed the penalty against Uruguay on purpose? How? For what exactly?
“When the penalty miss happened, I was getting abused and called names because others said I should have left it to others. Why didn't the others step forward to take it? They were afraid. Cowards. I will say it. They are cowards.”
Gyan decries a lack of respect in emotional rant
“There are evil people in this country; That’s is why we can’t win anything because of these people. They have tarnished Ghana’s reputation with dirt.
“They used my popularity as a political tactic to get my fans to vote for them.”
Gyan goes on full blown rant about Black Stars captaincy
“In my time as a captain in the national team, I was alone. I only delivered on the field.
“The kids would come into the team, they are all excited to see me then three days later, they would be avoiding me all because they have been brainwashed.
“People brainwashed the kids against me so they didn't respect me. After my departure you can see the effect. Go back and look at the kids who were brainwashed, where are they now?
“Instead of celebrating my 50th goal, you were fixated on my face on the captain’s armband.”
Asamoah Gyan on his allegedly strained relationship with Andre Ayew
“Andre is a good person. He has that genuine love for me but he has been brainwashed because it benefits people. That is what has brought the so called rivalry. Me I am not a rival to anyone.”
