BREAKING: Jana Parker named the next superintendent of Webster Groves School District in Missouri.
She's a big fan of Ibram X. Kendi.
She has posted:
• "White Fragility is Everywhere"
• "It's Time for White People to Understand their Whiteness"
• "Dr. Suess was racist" 👇🧵
Ibram X. Kendi quote:
"No one becomes 'not racist,' despite a tendency by Americans to identify themselves that way. We can only strive to be 'antiracist' on a daily basis, to continually rededicate...to the lifelong task of overcoming our country’s racist heritage"
Another Ibram X. Kendi quote: "The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination."
"'White Fragility' is Everywhere."
"It's Time for White People to Understand their Whiteness."
"As a white educator, we have a responsibility to NOT be colorblind."
"Kids are not falling behind... 'behind' is simply accepting our measurement of kids against a white, upper-middle-class neurotypical, ableist..."
"We EACH play a part to become an anti-racist organization."
"we know Dr. Suess was racist."
"[Talking] about dismantling an inherently racist educational system."
"We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Jana Parker as the new superintendent of the Webster Groves School District!
Dr. Parker brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to equity, and a passion for student success." @WebsterGrovesSD
