Sekoia: The Future of AI Agent Investments

Many people don’t fully understand how @sekoia_virtuals works, so I’ve put together all the key information below.

Founder of Sekoia - Anand Iyer

The founder of Sekoia is Anand Iyer @ai, a highly respected and well-known investor, partner at Lightspeed VC, and founder of Canonical. In an interview on June 21 for Near protocol, Anand discussed the potential of AI agents, highlighted challenges (privacy, decentralization, transparency) and demonstrated deep enthusiasm and expertise in both AI and blockchain technologies. With experience in running startups and managing VC funds, Anand clearly knows what he’s doing.

How Sekoia Operates

Teams building agents on the @virtuals_io can submit a pitch to Sekoia describing their project. Using AI agents, Sekoia analyzes these pitches and decides whether to invest. By mid-December, Sekoia had reviewed over 100 pitches, and that number is likely much higher now.

Sekoia invests investors’ funds into projects and then distributes 80% of the acquired tokens back to the investors. The remaining 20% goes to the treasury at this address: 0x8ed6b29b058ed3fe049a094310499a38a3820059

Soon, external investors ($SEKOIA holders) will be able to invest in the Sekoia fund (currently, it’s speculated that Anand is the sole investor).

Half funds in the treasury (10% of total investment) is allocated for development, while the other half (10% of the total investment) is used to buy back and burn $SEKOIA tokens.

Recent Investments and Returns

So far, Sekoia has invested in 5 projects -$SERAPH, $TAOCAT, $J3FF, $GEKKO and $VOLTX. The two most recent investments, in $GEKKO and $VOLTX, have delivered the most significant returns:

$GEKKO: Purchased 68.3M tokens (6.8% of the total supply) for $25,000. The current value is $1,900,000 – a 76x return.
$VOLTX: Purchased 100M tokens (10% of the total supply) for $50,000. The current value is $1,930,000 – a 38x return.

As mentioned earlier 80% goes to investors and 20% to treasury, this is why on the sekoia website you can find info about 20M of VOLTX and 13M of GEKKO.

Investments in $TAOCAT, $SERAPH and $J3FF also generated good returns (+5x each).

The Treasury and Future Potential

The Sekoia treasury, where 20% of acquired tokens are stored, currently holds a value of $780,000. Approximately half of this amount (around $390,000) will be used for buybacks and burns of $SEKOIA tokens.

It's worth noting that these results come from just 5 investments, with all the tokens being on the market for less than a month (Seraph since 02.12). At the moment none of these projects achieved $50M mcap. The potential for growth, even among these initial five projects, remains enormous.

If the AI agents trend continues in the coming months and more valuable agents emerge on the Virtual platform, Sekoia will be well-positioned to invest in many of them. The platform’s advantage lies in its ability to analyze thousands of projects daily and invest in very early-stage opportunities, often right after their launch on Virtual (as seen with $GEKKO and $VOLTX). Many agent teams even pitch their projects to Sekoia before launching.

Why Projects Pitch to Sekoia

Projects approach Sekoia because it offers:
- Expertise and guidance
- Support in scaling
- Valuable exposure

Through its first five investments, Sekoia has established itself as a reputable player in the market. Despite numerous pitches from scammers and weak projects, the team has consistently rejected them in favor of selecting high-potential ventures that continue to grow.

The Value of $SEKOIA

Holding $SEKOIA tokens offers significant benefits:

1. Priority Access to the Fund: Token holders will have the first opportunity to invest capital through the fund. For example, if Sekoia had invested your $1,000 in $VOLTX, you would receive tokens worth $60,000 now. And that’s just one investment.
2. Buyback and Burn Mechanism: 10% of all tokens purchased by Sekoia are allocated for buybacks and burns of $SEKOIA. Currently, this amounts to approximately $390,000. As Sekoia increases the frequency of its investments and the market caps of certain agents exceed $100M, this amount could grow significantly.

Conclusion

The upcoming opening of the fund for $SEKOIA holders, combined with the ongoing buyback and burn program, makes me personally very bullish. I'm holder of $SEKOIA and I'm looking forward how it will develop. If you are bullish on Virtual, sekoia can be interesting beta play on steroids.

Think of it as an investor who has unlimited time to analyze projects and can sift through a huge number of projects, most of which are scams, to pick out the best ones.

Hopefully, in the future, Sekoia will expand beyond Virtuals into other ecosystems, and eventually, the broader crypto market.
