Kursk and border operations - Day #66 - Battles for Berdin are ongoing
A thread on the events in Kursk (and other border areas). After an initial push to the outskirts of Berdin, the activity of Ukrainian units slowed down. Probing before a bigger attack (elsewhere?)
Russian sources claim that at night, Ukraine sent two groups from the settlement of Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in the Kursk region towards Russian positions, but according to their claims were supressed. At night, the use of Vampire (Baba-Yaga) drones were observed, probing Russian defensive positions.
A significant military facility in Russian Kursk was attacked overnight, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Central Defense Department operating against disinformation.
On January 7, 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted a precision strike on the command center of the 810th Separate Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces near the village of Belya (Kursk region), reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
🇺🇦 The 61st Mechanized Brigade repelled a Russian infantry assault on Makhnovka, Kursk region, using tanks, artillery, and drones.
According to Russian sources, not much has changed in Kursk region. In the past day, Russian forces focused on countering Ukrainian infantry near Berdin, reportedly halting two vehicles and ~30 personnel. Ukrainian troops are regrouping near Kosytsya to hold their positions. Fighting is still ongoing.
Fighters of the 33rd Assault Regiment, alongside their counterparts, are conducting offensive operations in the Kursk region. They employed mortars, tanks, self-propelled artillery, cluster munitions, and D-30 guns, targeting a group of around 20 individuals.
Russians are hitting Sudzha with S-300 missiles, already destroying several of their own villages. At least 3 S-300 rockets have hit Sudzha, and towns like Sverdlikove, Lebedivka, Malaya Loknya, Daryino, Makhnovka, and Plyokhovo have been destroyed.
